Meet the team:

Not many people realise just how many hands it takes to run a dog training club, both on and behind the scenes. Even less realise that it is done on a purely voluntary basis. These include:

Sandra Cobbold - Treasurer and Instructor - 07801 418588

Phil Williams - Secretary and Instructor

- 07973 406220

Simon Cornwell - Committee & trainee instructor

Yvette Theobald - Committee & Instructor

Jane Gurdin - Committee & Instructor

Rachel Chapman - Committee & Instructor

Training venue - we train at the old Monotype Bowls Club in Salfords, near Redhill. Classes are outdoors on the bowls lawn with room to run several classes at the same time. There is ample parking. Refreshments and toilets are available in the adjacent Monotype - Perrywood Sports & Social club house. We ask you do not attend if your dog is in season, or has an infectious illness, or you have COVID - 19 symptoms. We keep a register of those attending classes. We a run a shop selling a range of essential items such as collars, leads, dog toys and treats.

WINTER TRAINING AND CHRISTMAS EVENT 2024

Please see below details of new Class Times from this coming Saturday 9th November, and our GSD Christmas Party on Saturday 14th December.

Class times
As the days continue to shorten we need to start classes earlier so the second classes do not finish in the dark.
From next Saturday 9th November, classes will start half an hour earlier:
14:30 to 15:20 First classes
15:30 to 16:20 Second classes

GSD Christmas Party
Saturday 14th December. Party games for our GSDs and their handlers. Please note the date. Full details to follow.
Please note, this will be our last session of the year.
Classes will resume 11th January 2025

Please:
Arrive ~ 15 minutes before class start times so we can check you in, answer any questions and allocate your instructor.
Keep dogs on leads at all times when in the bowls club, except when doing 'off lead' exercises.
Please do not bring your dog to training if it is 'in season' or until it has fully recovered from an infectious illness.

‼️ UPDATE: Fri 6th Sept ‼️
STILL MISSING
Sadly at the start of the week little Pepsi (10yrs, jack russel x chihuahua) went walkabout from our farm. Not wearing her harness, but she is chipped - and her details are up to date.
A search has been ongoing, with the last sighting of her being at Crick Wharf on Monday at 2am on cctv motion cameras.
We are utterly devastated by her disappearance and we are now trying everything we can to search and get locals to help keep an eye out for her.
Based on her movements between our farm and the marina area. We are fairly confident that she has not gone too far.
Info on our search:
> a drone search in nearby fields and areas that she was seen wasn’t successful on Wednesday.
> We’ve covered 26Km plus of ground walking and searching fields, behind buildings and under trees and bushes.
> we’ve carried out an extensive search with a heat scope at night.
> we have now put food traps down at the Crick Wharf and the Marina in the hope it will attract her to enable a sighting.
We will then get a drone out asap and try to track her.
The council dog warden has been informed.
DogLost.co.uk are aware and alert for calls.
Drone to home have helped

Posters have gone up locall
Facebook posts have been put out regularly to local villages around.
Local businesses with cctv are also helping.

Interesting post written by Lorraine a very good behaviourist who works locally to our training ground.

Do you fear failure?

Our own fears of failure can hold back a nervous dog's behavioral progress. This is down to the powerful way in which our emotions influence our actions and the dog's response.

Fearing that we may make things worse, we often cocoon nervous dogs and avoid situations where the dog may have the opportunity to experience some stress and learn something positive from it.

Without regular, managed exposure, the dog remains in limbo, stuck in its anxious state and unable to make any progress.

If you live with a nervous dog and you want to help them progress, it's important that you manage your own fears and approach learning opportunities with confidence, patience, and consistency.

Remember that progress, no matter how small is still progress 🫢🏻
