I’m Charlotte Ellen Orde Bloodworth (mouthful I know...you can just call me Charlotte) and I am the founder of Surrey Livery. I can’t remember the first time I ever sat on a pony, let alone touched one but legend goes that I learnt to ride in the same week I learnt to walk… Ever since then, the obsession, passion and connection I have has only escalated, with my newly born niece already on her way

to beating my record. From weekend work on local livery yards to grooming in Italy for international showjumper, Yazmin Pinchen, I have always had a strong desire to work in the equestrian world no matter what level it may be… Although I can’t say six weeks in Tuscany wasn’t a highlight…

After finishing university I had a go at ‘normal life’ and began work in the city as a PR consultant for a boutique agency. It was during my time here that I began to feel the need to branch out on my own. Surrounded by successful entrepreneurs from all walks of life, my own entrepreneurial spirit started to grow but I wasn’t exactly sure what for. It wasn’t until I was well into my full-time PR role that I really started to feel the pains of being a horse owner, and working in the city. After witnessing the same struggle experienced by other horse owners and their respective livery yards, I started to see where my entrepreneurial energy might be best used... I then heard Manor Farm was up for grabs, and it was an opportunity I couldn’t refuse. Myself and my sister (the backbone of my riding career) have always sought an exceptional quality of care, and desired something that mirrored our own values as horse owners. We constantly felt fed up, disappointed and frustrated when places simply didn’t deliver the flexibility and high standard we so needed for the likes of us, working in high pressured jobs and wanting to simply enjoy being with our horses and horsey friends! So, fuelled by the desire to be my own boss (who can blame me with the initials CEO), I quit my awesome city job and established Surrey Livery with the aim to offer everything I, as a horse owner, felt like-minded owners would want for themselves and their horses. My approach therefore comes from the perspective of both the horse owner and horse carer which when combined, provides the unique experience of service we aim to deliver at Surrey Livery. We aim to create a safe, secure and easy-going environment for the both of you to enjoy your time together, and with your own species! We want to give peace of mind that if you need to work late, be away for periods of time, the kids are poorly, or even - shock horror! - socialise... both you and your horse have confidence in the level of care and attention received. At Surrey Livery we pride ourselves on really knowing and understanding each horse in our care as individual and unique. No one horse is the same, so why should their care be? Our goal is to consistently exceed expectations of a livery yard through the level of care and attention we provide. Harmonious yard life for both the two and four legged kind is at the heart of our ethos and the most important way we aim to ensure this is through our carefully selected team. All staff members are known to us as reliable, friendly and experienced horse carers with the same passion and drive as ourselves. And of course, socialising over cups of tea is paramount, regardless of whether you’re a professional inside or outside the equine world. Safe, fun, reliable all rounder for sale on behalf of a client.

Freddie has been on livery with us for the last few years, originally as a mother daughter share for teenager and novice nervous mum, Freddie enjoyed lots of hacking, cantering along the gallops and the occasional jump with the daughter followed by lunge lessons to pole work with the mother. Freddie looked after both, staying steady when needed, and having more in the tank when asked. In the last year Freddie has been on loan to a 12 year old girl who thoroughly enjoyed her first year of pony club rallies, competitions as well as lots of lessons and hacking at home.

During his time with us he has helped several other novice riders grow in confidence thanks to his calm steady attitude when ridden from family friends to weekend staff who fell so in love with him they took him on as a share.

However… Freddie can be grumpy and stable aggressive, particularly around his food, and for this reason, although he is a total novice ride, he does require an experienced person to handle him on the ground.

Freddie also requires a dust-free lifestyle due to two asthma flare ups in the last year, but this is managed with soaked hay and dust extracted bedding.

Previously Freddie has been a fabulous allrounder however going forward we believe he will best suit a happy hacking / low level dressage home. He has three balanced paces, works forward and correct when asked or will plod along at the pace of the rider. He isn’t a heavy lazy ride but is extremely steady and safe. No matter who has been put on board, I know he will always bring them back safe with a smile on their face.

Over the past few months, Freddie has become increasingly difficult to tack up and manage in his stable, due to owners personal circumstances we aren’t able to take the time to work through these issues, and therefore Freddie is available at a significantly reduced price, to the best home only. He is up to date with teeth, physio etc however may be due a re-medication of his back which was last carried out around 9 months ago.

Freddie has had the last month out of work, so as to give him time for his asthma to settle and in the hope that he will be less angry when he sees the tack appear.

Full veterinary history will be disclosed as well as being able to speak with owner, previous loaner, yard manager etc.

12 horses/ponies, indoor American style barn, working alongside current Sunday girl.

8-5 with an hours lunch break

Hours can be a touch shorter if needed but ideally all day cover.

'When I was young I spent my time at shows watching those in higher classes, watching what they did, how many strides they took, how they warmed up. Now I see the next generations of jumpers spending their down time at shows with their head in their phones, missing out on valuable lessons.

After a busy few weeks of half term, its back to training with TinTin with the fabulous Ian Wills

TinTin’s owner had an amazing busy time during half term however it meant we hadn’t had a jump together for almost a month! Some much needed tuning up and we are ready to hit the ground running for the winter season 🚀

Daisy and Olli having their first outing together Wednesday last week at Felbridge Show Ground for some lovely clear rounds in prep for their NSEA show on Saturday, where they brought more frilly’s home finishing 5th in the grassroots ‘style showjumping’.

Daisy’s buckling down for her mocks now, but we can’t wait to see the pair out and about again soon 💜🦄

I’m not sure the truck has had this many outings in a two week window EVER before… SUNDAY FUNDAY, despite the rain we had a super first time show for Ellen Ross and the beautiful Bunny at my favourite venue and second home, Felbridge Show Ground A fantastic result with two very sweet tests completed, just missing out on the frillys. Lots to like and lots to improve on, looking forward to watching the partnership of these two grow, and get Bunny back on the BD circuit soon 💜🐰

Moothi’s successful half term of competing and training was finished off with a spot of XC fun at Hickstead All England Show Ground, we had ALL the weather; thunder storms, torrential rain, beautiful sunshine and a rainbow 🌈 as always, TinTin cracked on with his job and flew round with a very happy teenager on board. A truly soggy but VERY fun end to a busy half term. Now to plan and prep these two for the winter season 💪🚀

A delightful Wednesday last week, popping our little Pipi and Basma back to Felbridge after some sat nav and braking issues in the pony club team showjumping. Just adore this little mare, totally teaching Basma what it’s all about, she was ready and raring to set off and win the jump off when Basma asked her to canter around her course on Monday, but unfortunately, with Basma having only ever cantered a handful of times, this competitive little jockeys plan didn’t quite go as intended. Being the determined young rider she is however, we went straight back to the showground and took it back down a level to trot around for an adorable clear round. Confidence restored, huge learning to not run before we can walk (or canter before we can trot!) but most importantly, a super fun jam packed half term was had. Back to school now for Basma so Pipi will be being kept fit during the week for Basma by our fabulous team, ready for weekend lessons. Can’t wait to get these two back out and about, such a fab pair. Roll on the Christmas holidays! 💜🦄
