Ostel has settled really well. He is a clever wee cookie - learning to use his litter box already 💪 He used his cage before but his cage is spotless 🎉 He's worked out his treat dispenser for his food pellets 💪
He's not used to eating feeding hay as the main part of his diet (he only had bedding straw & a big supply of rabbit museli), it should be 80% of their diet. Chewing the hay is so important to wear down their teeth, which constantly grow. So we're hiding his veg & fresh grass in the hay, to encourage him.
When I collect Ostel yesterday I was told he was lazy, not too interested in company, didn't like being handled & would kick out. Plus the 2 brothers fighting but they are unneutered boys & in a cage together most of the day (the cage was the same as the one we have, so you can imagine it was cramped with 2 & no escape most of the day. Ostel will never be closed in his cage, free access at all times)
So far he's bobbing about constantly, coming straight to you for food, gives lots of nudges to suss you out, happy to be petted, very inquisitive & loves his carrot house.
I think he's been a very stressed out wee bun in his previous environment but that's just melting away, by keeping him busy 🐇💙 (Facebook only letting one video be posted, more in comments)
