Morning all, no losses again🫶🏻 The rat pack is still going strong💪🏻 Everyone now has open eyes and ears and we’ve moved over to an extra small teat rather than the paint brush so they’re taking a little more but still not clearing 3mls between them😅 They still have huge naps between feeds so I’m going to keep them in the little nest, they do have walking room and a little climbing room but for 99% of the day minus feeds they’re sleeping, I think by Friday they’ll be in a larger enclosure and I’ll be able to introduce some soft solids. They’ve started to clean eachother and I’m sure I heard the first squabble earlier too😅 I’ll also be able to cut out the middle of the night feed Friday🥳 I’m hoping to release the three baby pigeons this week when the rain starts to ease as the nights are becoming a little more mild too🫶🏻 Fingers crossed for a good week all round.

There are 3 domestic bonded male rats needing a forever home due to a change in circumstances, they will need an enclosure as they’re current is broken❤️

Some may or may not have seen the little rat spat🙄 I get it, I’m not their number 1 fan I’ve had issues with them in the past stealing my food stocks and one of my baby pigeons. I try to put it more politely for readers but that’s what happened a few weeks back when I said we’d lost one under different circumstances so again I 100% see peoples problems with certain species but I dealt with it and moved on here I am 12 days later hand raising the very things that caused me issues and to be honest a little trauma. What I don’t appreciate is I am as polite and professional as I possibly can be during these “debates” and I have things thrown in my face and I’m being spoken to like I’m a unknowing of life moron, one point was I accept donations. So does every other animal rescue including the giant ones that turn over big profits. I throw soo much of my personal income into this, the ladies point was donations are keeping these rats alive, at present they aren’t they’re using things I’ve got out of my own personal income not that it even matters no one donates and say “oh don’t spend it on pigeons”. Caerphilly bird rescue AKA carol absolutely rinsed everyone from all over the country thousands, hand reared everything for all to see including squirells which is completely illegal in every way, she did it on Facebook for all to see, not one person batted an eye lid or gave her any grief ever because her husband built up a beautiful reputation, yet I’m constantly dealing with grief and I’ve done nothing to provoke any of it. Don’t like something? Keep it to yourself if I offend you in anyway I apologise but unfollow the page my views as a rehabber are give them all a go, they’re all equal to me and that’s that. I’m off to feed the plague spreaders and call it a night😉

We have our first eye, all still here and seem to be doing well sorry about the baby spam I don’t favourite them I can be really hands on with them for photos where as I can’t with the adults.

For those who were interested in giving these a home they’re wild they can’t live domestically they’ll carry things domestics don’t… BUT I do have domestics looking for a home I can’t find my wait list 3 bonded males are needing a new home due to a huge change in circumstances for the current owner🫶🏻

A huge thank you to Liz for the baby bits it’s hugely appreciated🫶🏻 Also a thank you to Margret who made a generous donation last night which has allowed me to pick up more baby bits and get the next lot of meds on the way🫶🏻

Morning all, we’ll start with the bad news Agnes the troublesome pigeon has passed away, when she arrived we knew she had issues which meant she wouldn’t be wild again but she went down hill soon after bless her so hasn’t joined us for breakfast😮‍💨 All the little newbies made the night this video was just after a feed they all argue over who’s going to be in the corner until they all succumb to the milk coma😂 I’ve got huge hopes for these little ones I know I shouldn’t😅 But I’ve got a really good feeling about them all the little runt of the litter drinks the most so I’m hoping as I said yesterday she’ll catch up now feeds are one to one rather than whoever can get to mum quickest before she goes off again🫶🏻

So far touch wood so good, with being with me rather than mum they’re at risk of aspiration which is why I use the paint brush to lessen those risks and they are slightly older so hoping that also goes in our favour. I’ve also managed to get all of them to go to the toilet every feed which was a huge struggle with Remy the last rat pup we had in. I’m not going to name them because it’s going to be impossible to tell them apart there is “runt” so I’ll be trying her with a little extra formula every feed to see if I can get her to catch up. We’ll be onto our 4th feed at 7, some are taking more than others but I couldn’t imagine going from a bottle to a paint brush tip so it’s an adjustment period but soo far they’re all very well behaved little sleepy heads who I think are just grateful to be in the warm🥰

24/01/2025

I know I said yesterday I’m not taking any but if these little ones didn’t have a full belly today they wouldn’t have seen this evening. A little sooner than anticipated I’ve made the first formula batch of the year and got the paint brushes out. Your eyes don’t deceive you that is 36 micro paws you see. I was expecting 3 and there’s 9, the finder did everything right they didn’t stop to count them they scooped them up and put them in a safe place hoping mum would return during the night but she hasn’t. All have been warmed and had their tiny bellies filled so hopefully in just 2/3 short weeks they’ll be fully weaned, we’re at the “hopper stage” no open eyes but all full of fur and got their tiny teeth buds so anywhere from 9-15ish days old🫶🏻

Ahead of the storm due tomorrow I will not be accepting any rescues for the duration of tomorrow, I’m in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees and right on the river so like last time the flood from nowhere will be at risk of happening again and I don’t want anyone risking themselves travelling to us. I will advise for the duration you may have a rescue like I do every other. While out and about if you are out keep a look out for little ones struggling in the high winds and rain, the last storm knocked a big Muscovy duck senseless so imagine being a tiny bird in that. Stay safe all🫶🏻

Also had a rather exciting delivery that id completely forget about, I am scratching my head at how these are size medium though😂 These are antipreen bird collars my thinking is if I can stop the bird preening after being catted and on antibiotics they may stand more of a chance while fighting the initial infection not adding more to their system while cleaning. Fingers crossed these help save some tiny lives🫶🏻

Is anyone in the NP20 area down a Pakistani high flyer/tippler pigeon. Kylie the pigeon whisperer had one enter her garden yesterday afternoon after being chased by a large bird and she’s extremely friendly, too friendly very happy to be in human company and being held. She has no rings but Kylie will check her inner wings for the stamp later on but in the meantime want to get the ball rolling incase someone is looking for her🙂

I can’t scream this enough, as you’ll all know many a time people have been on wild goose chases for literal geese and many other animals as I’ve had a call to say “so and so is in this bush with no eye” and then I’ve had dozens of people go and try and find the animal and it’s no longer there. They will not stay where they are unless they have a double leg issue they will constantly feel unsafe and go off not realising they’ll crawl into a ditch and pass away or be picked up by another animal. I know and completely understand that people are sometimes petrified of wild animals and I get it my hands are full of scars people who have dropped animals off to me have watched my hands be beyond attacked while explaining the history they know of but pop a box over it and leave it there so it’s contained and safe ready for the next person to collect and get help from myself, another rescue or vet. I follow many other rescue pages and yesterday I saw a plea for someone to collect a seagull that many others had just taken photos of and walked past he was in hell of a mess really horrific injuries that couldn’t be helped and by the time the rescue had gotten to where he was he’d gone off in absolute agony and no one’s found him since. Even if the injuries are beyond help the whole “let nature take its course” isn’t on if you’ve seen this animal suffering, it can be taken to a vet for that agony and suffering to be ended asap we all deserve dignity and compassion at the very end of our days and as you’ll all know following me we often see the last days and they all deserve nothing but comfort during them🫶🏻

To all the vets that follow the page and refer people to me for assistance please listen when they say they think they have a break, if you have them check before contacting me if it’s exposed we can cut me out and get the animal out of the excruciating pain it’s in. As you will well know I can not do exposed bone and it’s quite unfair they’re directed my way on myself and the animal👍

Morning all, unfortunately the crow we had yesterday had the worst wing break I’ve had to date. There wasn’t just one exposed bone there were 5 so I immediately wrapped the wing to stop him flapping it and standing on it to make him a little more comfortable and dosed him with pain relief. He was put to sleep soon after I just made sure he was as comfortable as I could make him as he was with finder a little while with those issues so wanted to make the last part of his journey as “pain free” as I could not that I think there’s such thing as numbing those pains. He was beyond gorgeous and stuck to my finger literally for 15 minutes I couldn’t get him off me and his claws where right in there so we held hands while I wrapped him and gave meds😅 Other than little glyn the crow everyone else is fine and has enjoyed breakfast🙂 Here’s a quick pic I took, I did make sure he had a couple of monkey nuts for the road😓

When breakfast wasn’t enough so you’ve got to ask the food ladies kids for their snacks😂 He’s such a tiny trouble maker. The kids are well happy they saw a “duck”😅 and Clive’s happy he’s had a second breakfast and now knows he can fly up on the windowsill to get our attention🫣 He’s looking a little unkept as he’s soggy from his morning ice bath🥶

How gorgeous are these🥹 There’s 2 seagulls, 2 pigeons, 2 ducks and 2 Eurasian blue tit hanging ornaments up for grabs along with 1 little wooden robin, 1 robin has already gone on to its new home😅. All hand made by the amazing crafty chipmunk (thank you for the little robin freebies)🫶🏻 All funds raised will go into the live food/medicine fund I’m trying to build up. There will be 9 winners drawn on live £1 a number. I can add numbers if theres enough interest but I’ve found the bigger numbered fundraisers I do I struggle to fill them such as the chocolate one that’s still ongoing😅. Each winners bird will be chosen by the random word generator like when I did the last multiple win fundraiser so it’s not “picking favourites”. Will be drawn when full. Please pay for numbers immediately as I’ve had 2 people not pay for a teddy name and since block the page so I’ll have to order new cards and transfer over so it’s fair incase they’ve won and I can’t give them the prize🙂 P.S the seagulls have food😂

Payment can also be made via bank but I’m not putting my bank details on here anymore due to the recent spam things I’ve had but you’re more than welcome to message if PayPal isn’t an option🙂

That is Rusty whistling you can hear😂 Whenever I go to the garage I hear flapping just outside😂 I stand and watch them for as long as they’ll let me I always stand there and toot my own horn and think “wow, they’re here because of me” Maverick and Buddy were more easy cases they just needed intense weight gain and released themselves😅 But Gary was a real touch and go one with open wounds to his back and chest, he was a bit of a mess. Whenever I see any of the ones I release I just think wow, the same when the little white dove came back and fourth for the month prior to bonfire night I fixed her wing and she was able to be out and do her thing. I see these guys along with two others every day if I’m not in the garage when they come to feed they’ll go to my living room window to make sure I know they’re waiting😂 While walking back from the school I noticed lots of little birds I hadn’t seen since October time and lots of “singing” establishing territory and finding mates I believe, baby season is very almost here🫶🏻
