***WHAT HOUSING DOES A TORTOISE NEED?***

We stock Horsfield and Hermann's tortoises, which are ideal as pets. For these particular tortoises, the recommended housing is a tortoise table - an open-top enclosure that provides them with plenty of ventilation, a covered area for sleeping, and easy access for the owner (tortoise cuddles coming up!).

***HOW BIG WILL MY TORTOISE GROW?***

Horsfield and Hermann's tortoises typically grow to around 5-10" when adult.

***HOW LONG WILL MY TORTOISE LIVE?***

Horsfield and Hermann's tortoises have a fabulously long lifespan, with them typically living for 50-75 years (or maybe longer!).

***DO TORTOISES MAKE GOOD PETS FOR KIDS?***

Horsfield and Hermann's tortoises are ideal pets for kids! Their sweet temperament and low maintenance make them the ideal choice for busy families, and they're so much fun to interact with. They make especially good pets for children who are nervous around animals, as they are notoriously slow-moving.

***WHAT DO TORTOISES EAT?***

Tortoises are super-easy to feed! They just need a daily salad (a handful of fresh weeds, flowers, and leafy greens - sprinkled with the relevant supplement powders for health and vitality).

So that we can make sure we’re giving our animals the best care in-store, most of them have hides, or foliage to retreat to. Whilst this is great for the animals, it can sometimes look like there are empty vivariums when you come to visit us (we promise - there’s something in there, and if you can't see it, it's likely hiding or sleeping!).
To make it easier for you to see what we have in stock, we now have a page on our website where you can browse all of our weird and wonderful creatures...and buy them online, too!
