Our first hedgehog of the year!
Found by drop distributions in a car park at lunch time in the hot sun. They brought him straight to us where we assessed and made the call to take him straight to Hedgehog Help Prestatyn for specialist care.

Please see H.H.P. Supporters to help fundraise for them.
Fingers crossed little man! ❤️🦔

**** PUPDATE****
This bundle of slobbery joy has been reunited with his very grateful owners, they’ve identified how he managed to take himself for a walk and fixing the issue
This just shows how important it is to ensure your animals are micro chipped and all of your details are kept up-to-date, without up-to-date details this beautiful lad would’ve ended up in kennels

A massive shout out to Terri at Phoenix55 transport Services for finding him and containing him and transporting him to us

It's sad news this time, unfortunately.

Little Buddy Starburst was not strong enough to survive his infection and passed away yesterday afternoon. Our team are devastated, as he was showing fair signs of improvement, but this will not stop us from pouring the same time, effort, and compassion into the next, and the next, and the one after that, forever. ❤️🐦‍⬛🐾

It is common to lose fledglings to infection, especially in the first few days (not that this makes it any easier).
It is extremely important to get these animals to professional / experienced care as soon as they are recognised injured or confirmed abandoned. However, please note that this is to give them their best chance at survival, not to guarantee it.

Thank you to everyone who has continued to show their support throughout Buddy's time with us. The video shows Buddy alive, albeit struggling, the day before his passing. ❤️🐦‍⬛

Yesterday, we were asked by Foundation For Feathered Friends to help rescue a fledgling as they are growing very short on space with themselves and we are also experienced in hand-rearing birds.

Our volunteer, Ryan, went out to assess and collect this gorgeous young starling. They were in poor condition, as the finder detailed that their dog had brought the bird inside, and it had been grounded for 2 days prior to this.

On collection, the fledgling was dull, unresponsive, and appeared to have gone without food/water for some time as there wasn’t even a p**p of fear!
One leg is assumed broken and one wing is showing signs of infection.

They are still under official temporary ownership of Foundation for Feathered Friends who will assess their condition and organise appropriate treatment.

They survived the night! They are now shouting for food and feeling a little brighter. They are still very unwell, and it is still touch and go, but they are still with us so there is hope. ❤️🐦‍⬛

Our incubator is proving itself, truly. Thank you again to everyone who helped us achieve its purchase 🙏

As for this little one’s name, well… after a little indecision between our daughter and I 😂… Buddy Starburst!

URGENT

Is there anybody free who would please be able to transport a herring gull to the vets for PTS?

They need transport from Rhyl to Rhyl as soon as possible. This gull is already dying and the nicest option for it is for it to be put to sleep. It is always sad when this is the case, but sadder when they might not get that peaceful way out.

If anyone can help, anyone at all, please message us as soon as possible or contact Foundation For Feathered Friends directly .

Thank you all ❤️🐾

Final update on these kittens from us! ❤️🐾

This morning we transferred all 4 kittens over to Idlewild Animal Sanctuary.
At point of transfer, all four kittens were alive and doing much better after being given Critical Care Formula with their kitten food. They all ate each meal time, little by little, slowly putting on that essential weight; well, all except one who didn't understand "slowly" and couldn't get enough of the yummy stuff! 😋

For future updates or information re these kittens, please contact Idlewild Animal Sanctuary.
Please note, the kittens will not be up for adoption or similar enquiries until at least 8 weeks old so please refrain from asking these questions of them until this point.

Thank you all again so very much for your immense support during this rescue! 🙏

As you may have read, there is one kitten outstanding to locate and transfer to rescue. They had been seen briefly on the morning of the rescue, but were nowhere to be found when it came to containing the litter. The local residents have been keeping an eye, but so far have seen no sign of the kitten. The queen has been back since but always been without the kitten. We will post an update if and when this kitten is found.

Kitten update -

All kittens now have nice full tummies and are snoozing away. All 4 appear to be doing well and are now holding their temperature.

18/04/2024

Yesterday evening into the early hours of this morning, two litters of kittens were born outdoors in Rhuddlan. We have been out this morning to check in on them and assess their situation.

Upon arrival, it was obvious that the conditions they had been born in were far from ideal.
One queen was positioned near to her litter of 5 kittens, though paid no interest in them, wandering off and not returning to their desperate squeals. 2 of the 5 were found underneath/beside the main nesting area and freezing cold. 1 unfortunately passed away on the way to the vets, and the other is in critical condition.
The second queen was nestled on top of her 2 kittens, however they were in similar condition (1 critical, 1 seeming okay) and the owner of the queen would not let her leave with the kittens, but wanted the kittens gone as they were not able to care for them.
In these situations, we always make sure to take all of the kittens to the vets to confirm health status and prognosis.

Unfortunately, as the queens were not contained with the kittens, the sanctuary placement lined up for them will not be able to collect them until Saturday.

The kittens are and will be with us until the sanctuary is able to collect them. We immediately set them up in an incubator which belongs to the sanctuary they will be going to. They will be handed over to the sanctuary in (and with) this incubator.
We are desperately trying to raise the funds to purchase our own incubator for emergencies just like this. Our ideal incubator would be the TLC-40 Eco Series II Digitally Controlled Intensive Care Unit from Brinsea at £633.11. We need to raise a further £505.66. We understand this is a huge sum, and are not expecting to achieve it overnight (or anything like!), but if anyone can help, we would be beyond extremely grateful.
Our bank details are as follows:

Please use the reference "incubator".

Further photos and updates on the status of the kittens will follow tonight/tomorrow pending further emergencies / timings.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to Murray for our brand new cat trap!

Many of you will know that we work closely with Dawn Smart as we contribute to the Trap, Neuter, Return program. This cat trap will be of huge benefit to help us to continue to humanely and safely rescue cats and kittens like the two in this photo! (Wizard and Noodle).

We really appreciate it! 💓🐱

We have a new ambulance!

Over the Christmas period, we realised that we couldn't put it off any longer - we needed another rescue vehicle to manage the number of transports (and the distances) we were being asked to do.

We took the hit and bought our new animal ambulance! Being an ex-police dog vehicle, it's ready kitted out with the air ventilation unit and purpose-built fitted crates.

We have already had plenty opportunity to use our new ambulance and it is safe to say we love it!

Thank you to everyone who has donated over the last 6 months for helping us to achieve this next milestone in our journey.

Tonight we have been out to the Great Orme, Llandudno, to assess three goat kids who were reported injured by the public.

We spoke with the RSPCA and the local warden and sent a member of our team over to the area to assist. Sadly, one of the three kids passed away, but the other two were alive and are on their way to rehabilitation.

On arrival, the RSPCA inspector was already on scene and dealing with the members of the public who had wrapped the kids in blankets to keep them warm. Please note that, while it is always our instinct to wrap injured animals in love and warmth, this should not be done before consent from relevant animal representatives / legal teams.
We understand that this was done on this occasion as prior to transport to a sanctuary. However, touching and handling these kids made the sanctuary the only option for them, as the nanny (mother goat) does not return to kids with humans stood around them, or after the kids have had contact from humans. The RSPCA inspector had been monitoring the situation and had eyes on the nanny.

In future, please refrain from approaching any of the lambs and kids. Instead, report injuries to the RSPCA on 0300 1230346 and to the warden on 01492 874151.

Just a quick update from us on Flynn the German shepherd from yesterday. As promised, here are some photos of this stunning lad settling in at Fall In Love With A Rescue.

First of all, he received his new name!
Everyone, meet Mike. ❤️

This morning he greeted the rescue team (and his breakfast!) with a grateful smile.
Despite coming with a reactivity towards males warning, he has since accepted a boiled egg off a male from the rescue, and has been won over by food. We are told he sits and gives paw, and isn’t antsy over his food, even though he’s underweight and hungry.

He really is such a special boy and we are so glad that Mike is getting this second chance at life. 💓

Flynn the German Shepherd is now safe with Fall In Love With A Rescue !!

We were pre-warned he was reactive, but we only saw nerves. He didn’t enjoy being in the van but did settle enough to sleep for the majority of the journey.

He was excited to get out of the van and have a sniff around. Photos to follow in the morning!

So that marks the end of our 466 mile journey to collect and transport two beautiful fluffballs who needed saving. Now it’s time for the 224 mile journey back home for our volunteer team to get straight back to their day jobs first thing in the morning! Forever grateful for my fabulous team ❤️👏

Massive thank you to Jayne Louise, Ann Young, Marsh Suzie (and Animal Warriors), and Tracy Evans for your amazing donations towards the costs of this emergency transport. Together you have donated £125!!! Honestly, we didn’t expect such amazing generosity. We cannot thank you enough. 💓🙏

First dog safely, successfully transported!

Brief update: the third dog scheduled for transport today (Derby —> Essex) is being rescheduled due to issues with Derby pound closing at 12 and not being prepared to release her any later.

Roxy, the beautiful (thought slightly overweight 😂💓) sharpei x is now safely with the rescue Team-Paw Rescue!

She travelled really well and was super excited to meet the amazing Team-Paw Rescue. She was doing her best to pull me all the way to their front door!

She gave us all big grins and seems to be settling in nicely — just look at that face! 🥺❤️

On our way to Berkshire now to drop off Flynn the German Shepherd!

URGENT UPDATE

Today’s transport is now 3 dogs. 2 from above Blackpool, 1 from Derby. 2 to Essex, 1 to Berkshire.

Fuel is now £350 without ULEZ, CAZ, and tolls.
Wilfred & Friends is covering the ULEZ, CAZ, and tolls where possible. It’s up to the pound pullers and rescues to raise the £350, but we’d like to help reduce that where possible.

We have already had a £20 donation which is incredible. Thank you so much 🙏

We will update you where we can.

07/01/2024

URGENT!

The rescue is currently looking at nearly a £350 bill towards urgent transport today.

2 dogs need transporting by us from North of Blackpool. We are then going down to Essex to drop off one, and the other is then going over to Berkshire.

The £350 covers diesel, ULEZ / CAZ charges (clean air zone) and Toll charges.
We would like to help contribute towards the rescues costs. If anyone can please contribute towards this we would be forever grateful.

A huge thank you to Sue and everyone from Animal Warriors for our Christmas donation of £100!

Facebook technical difficulties have meant that this post is a little late, but that doesn’t mean we are any less grateful!

This amazing donation was included in our end of year total I posted in the New Year and has helped us achieve everything mentioned. And the remaining funds are going to 3 emergency rescues we are trying to plot this week and buying more time in pound kennels for these dogs who are awaiting PTS.

Here’s to another successful year 🎊🎉

Thank you also to the amazing Andy Lambert and Angela Lambert for donating kitten food and a toy to the Ffordd Derwen kitten in our care! And a huge thank you for the amazing monetary donation for us to continue with our work.

Updates on the kitten will follow!

Thank you to everyone who has shared and liked our posts. Every share improves our chances of finding the owner.
