The transformation of Miles ❤️ all it took was some proper meals and lots of love to turn Miles into a happy, healthy energetic boy again !

Now that he is healthy, we can start getting him ready for travel so that he can become available for adoption and have a chance at a better life ❤️

‼️*YOUR HELP NEEDED!*‼️

AFOT have agreed to help this poor boy who was wasting away in the government shelter.. Old and sick, underweight and covered in bite marks, this is a dog who desperately needed help, but under the new 'Massacre Law', government shelters are instructed to euthanise sick dogs rather than try to help them.. He wouldn't have stood a chance if we hadn't spotted him..
We have had extensive bloodwork done and thankfully all his organs appear to be healthy and functioning well, but he has an extremely high bacterial infection. The vet says he would have been dead within days if he had stayed in the shelter..
This poor boy is so unwell and confused and he is absolutely terrified.. He chose the smallest spot he could find to hide away in during his treatment.. We hope that he will start to feel safe once he feels better..

✨*CAN YOU GIVE MILES HOPE FOR A BETTER LIFE THIS CHRISTMAS?!*✨

Meet Miles. He is our newest rescue from the government shelter in Turkey, and he needs your help!

Miles is the first of the new dogs AFOT have committed to taking on in partnership with Melez Dog Rescue, to save more dogs at risk of an uncertain fate under Turkey's Massacre Law.. He was stuck in the government shelter with no hope of a future..
Miles is a great example of the type of vulnerable dog that is at risk under the new law. Middle-aged, quiet and weak, as his kennel got more and more crowded, he was unable to get enough food, and he started to waste away.. He is so incredibly malnourished, he is a walking skeleton..
Miles had no way to fend for himself in the crowded government shelter, and with weak and sick dogs being euthanised to make space for more dogs coming in from the local round-ups, the clock was ticking for him.. Who knows how much longer he would have survived..

Miles is now safe, but our work doesn't stop here.. Miles desperately needs sponsors to help pay for the costs of getting him back to health and ready for adoption. Miles is such a sweet boy and he so deserves the chance to have a better life in a home in the UK.. Can you help get him there?!

Pippin and his brother Merry had a home safe from the dangers of the streets. Their life wasn’t perfect, but they were safe but that changed when their owner moved to a different city and sent them off to the government shelter, a death sentence for young puppies. Thankfully, we were informed were able to intervene. Pippin is a timid dog, scared of the outside world and strangers, but when he feels safe, he is such a sweet boy! Always happy and up for cuddles, he is a joy to have around. He is very playful and loves to play with other dogs of all shapes & sizes, and will happily prance around you trying to get you to play. Pippin is 3 yrs old (Dec 24), small (approx 13kg) and has crooked back legs, probably a result of nutritional deficiency as a puppy. His legs do not require treatment, and he is able to move, run and play without difficulty. Shy around strangers, especially men, when people come into his kennel, he will hang back and observe them. If he feels stressed, he may bark, but curiosity soon gets the better of him, and he will soon come up for a sniff. It doesn’t take long for him to feel comfortable enough to try to get people to play and cuddle! Although Pippin feels very comfortable in the enclosure, new environments can scare him. He walks well on the lead with a harness and enjoys walks, but can sometimes get spooked so will need a quiet, calm, stable home with a patient family who can offer lots of guidance to build up his confidence. On could spare a few pounds to help us to keep rescuing mutts in Turkey? Dogs are being persecuted on the streets and since the ‘Massacre Law” was passed in July it’s been even worse. We need your support to help us to keep rescuing these poor dogs who through no fault of their own are suffering the most horrific abuse.

As a rescuer in Turkey, winter is always tough.. No dog deserves to have to live on the streets in the rain and the cold and you want to help them all so badly.. I have just spent the whole evening listening to the sound of a torrential downpour, feeling so guilty for being safe, dry and warm in my house, whilst hundreds of dogs are suffering on the streets..
But as long as popple are adopting, there is hope! all it takes is one more person opening their home to a Turkish stray for life to be completely transformed for that one lucky dog!

Hello from Winnie, the tripawd we rescued from a local government shelter the week the new massacre law came out..
Winnie is doing wonderfully ❤️ she has grown and gained lots of weight! She is still very weary of people but will come up for a sniff now!
