Opening hours for enquiry response.

Please note that although we are open for boarding 7 days a week, 365 days a year, I do require time off.

As it is just me that does the messages and bookings as well as looking after the dogs, I will be taking time out from the paperwork side of things.

As the majority of family time is most likely on a weekend, please do not expect a response over a weekend. If you have messaged Friday evening and I don't get back to you until Monday, this is a usual response time of essentially the next day. I may get back to you on a weekend but the majority of the time I will be busy with other things.

If I don't get back to your message within 3 (working) days please feel free to give me a nudge as it may be your message has got lost

10/12/2023

If anyone has messaged me over the last couple of days, I will get back to you at some point tomorrow.

I've been away for the last 3 days. I've literally just got back and have got dogs coming tomorrow from first thing to lunch time. I'll get back to people when I have a second to sit down

Thanks for your patience

*GREAT NEWS FOR XL BULLY OWNERS*

I've just had an update from my insurance company saying that banned breeds DO NOT have to be muzzled once in the field and the gate is locked.

I'm so glad this has been reviewed and now at least they can have somewhere that they can have the freedom to run and their owners can relax and enjoy their dogs.

That's what I call well insulated.

There's been no more snow since the picture this morning was posted and we still have a full roof of snow.

Underfloor heating has been on constant for the last couple of days so it's nice and cosy inside.

I'm going to miss this giant pudding. Feels like I've just given one of my own Dogs away!

As I spend so much time with the dogs that stay and treat them as my own I do get attached to them whether they stay for 1 night or 3 weeks.

Echo came for a big holiday so that his owners could have their first holiday without him.

He's a super friendly big lad so even got to play with his little neighbour. They had a great time together and would go to each others door for them to come out to play🥰

Nothing cuter than letting a dog out and he stands at his neighbours door nudging it for you to let his friend out❤️

Love it when both households can get out together.

The best feeling when a nervous dog comes back for their 2nd stay and mum was worried he would stand there shaking and what did he do?

Gorgeous George came for a nice long holiday. He is the best boy. Lovely to walk, chilled but playful and loves hugs. He made me laugh every single day

I used to walk George and him and my dog were the best of friends. They haven't seen each other for a while so wasn't sure if they remembered watch other. They definitely did.

I would go out and Frank would go to georges door for him to come out and play🥰. The grass was getting a little wrecked with all of the rain but they have finished it off😂 oh well, they had so much fun.

Just following on from the last post regarding reactive dogs as I've since had quite a few messages!

We did have more meetings than the 2 I mentioned just to make sure he was happy with me. As he loves the dog field they would visit there and then pop up so he associated me with the field.

If you have a reactive dog I am happy to meet as many times as needed for your dog to be comfortable. I would also recommend using the field too to get that association built up.

Trial days/ overnight are essential with reactive dogs if they have the potential to bite out of fear. I don't want you to be going on holiday and be called back if your dog has become aggressive due to nervousness. A trial will establish how they react without their owner present (which is usually better behaved! They are like children- play up for their parents but behave for others)

This shouldn't happen as I am well aware of dog behaviour and reading the signs. They come to me when they are ready. I do engage with them but back off when I see they want space but it could come with something as simple as putting their lead on.

I will work with most dogs if there is something to work on (fear reactivity) but cannot work with plain aggressiveness so please be honest with yourself and with me as to what level your dog is at.

Please get in touch if you would like to discuss the prospect of you dog having a holiday here.

Do we accept reactive dogs?

We do (but please be honest about it and we can have a few meets before their stay if they are human reactive)

When I first met frankie it was way before I opened the boarding, he was a user of our field. First time we met he ran around, and at me, barking and trying to bite me(more like mouthing). The second time I met him he ran at me and tried to get my hand but I moved it out of the way. By the end of the 2nd meet he was pushing his ball into my stomach for me to throw it for him.

His owner had resigned herself to not going away for the next 10 years as she wouldn't trust anyone to have him and, if I remember correctly, she thought no one would have him.

He came for a trial night to make sure he was OK. Not only was he OK but he was actually really good. I even got kisses! She can now go off to a family wedding next year without having to worry about him.

The excitement in his face when we went into his happy place Paddock for paws Richmond 🥰

Have a rare night off so thought I'd catch up on some Doggy spam.

I'll work backwards so up first are the 2 that have just been for a quick overnight stay. They are from different households but could socialise together so we went for lovely walks and it enabled me to sit with them together whilst the fireworks were on. Not that they were bothered, they didn't even her them but one is only a puppy so didn't want to risk it.

Had the best comment today when owners came to collect. "We've been able to enjoy our holiday and not worry about the dogs".

That is all I aim for. Happy dogs = happy owners.

Not sure willow felt the same though. See picture below of her best compo face. Think if she could phone the RSPCA she would have. How dare I leave when she wanted more belly rubs (bearing in mind it was 10.30pm😂). She definitely knew how to make me feel guilty. I could have actually stayed all night. They (her and her EBT brother) gave the best bed time hugs.

I really can't believe how far people are travelling for their dogs to be able to stay with us. We've had loads from up north - gateshead, Newcastle, south shields, near Tyne tunnel and currently have dogs from Ripon. Had enquiries from Leeds (but we didn't have space) and someone is wanting to book in from Bradford.

It's not only the distance that amazes me but I can't believe the amount of people who haven't had a holiday as they won't leave their dog anywhere but they've visited here and have booked in.

Thank you to everyone of you that has trusted me to look after your furry family members ❤️

Do your dogs get to go out every day when they stay with us?

Even during the storm we had last week. Dogs didn't care, at first! They had a good run and play then after half an hour they were at the gate so we came back in.

Workman said who'd walk their dogs in this weather. My reply was "well they can't walk themselves".

Butter wouldn't melt right? WRONG🤣

Truth be told she is just a cheeky little puppy who likes to pinch things. My slipper out of the office and running round the garden with it, toilet roll and my waterproof trousers!

She is such a friendly girl. She got to play with her neighbour and my friend popped over with her dog and they had a lovely time in Paddock for paws Richmond. We went on loads of walks, took a trip to millbry hill and went out for lunch to Morro Lounge. She was such a good girl.

Fair to say, I think she had a great time whilst she was here

These 2 came down from South shields for their stay. They are nervous rescue dogs.

They came for a look around a few months ago and did not stop barking at me but their owners were extremely happy with everything and said they "would like to book if you will have them"! Of course I would have them. They have never stayed with anyone other than family

Within a day they were like different dogs. It's so amazing not only have a dog warm to you but for them to actually like and trust you. They would join me on the bed of their own accord and loved their strokes. I was getting pawed at when I stopped. That made my day. The owners couldn't believe it when I sent the cctv.

Owners kept updated so they knew their dogs were happy and they could enjoy their own holiday without having to worry.

Getting back into it and have still got quite a few pictures to post from the last few weeks.

How handsome is this big lad. Those eyes😍.

He was a bit nervous when they came for a look round and a little bit when he first came for his stay but it wasn't long before I won him over and he was such a loving boy, amd he made friends wth everyon here. He even got to play with his neighbours.

MORE return visitors, and they are booked in for a 3rd holiday before the year is out. Can't wait, they give the best hugs and they are so clever. They now know the nighttime routine of going out for wees then coming in for a snuffle mat to tire the brain then hugs, or in their case belly rubs!
