A great big thank you 🙏

Yesterday, a poorly badger was discovered outside of the field in the hedgerow. The poor thing was unable to walk or stand and appeared to possibly have a broken back 😢

Thanks to the caring actions of our customers, we were made aware of the situation and were able to find help.

A big shout out to the RSPCA (England & Wales)RSPCA who arrived quickly and were determined in their approach. They were here for several hours trying to find a way to help. They managed to find a vet who was able to come out to the site. Unfortunately the badger was too poorly and euthanasia was the kindest thing to do, but thanks to the actions of all these people, the badger didn’t continue to suffer unnecessarily. Some people are just so kind. Thank you.

And thank you to last night’s customers who understand why we closed the field and had to cancel their bookings- again kind people putting the plight of a wild helpless animal first.

We have such a kind community of people here.

Alfie 🌈

We received some very sad news today, Alfie’s family contacted us to let us know that Alfie sadly crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday 😢

Alfie, along with his lovely family, had been visiting us for years. We’ve seen so many fantastic pictures of Alfie (and Jackson & Ruby) having fun here and that is really special to us.

We’d like to take this opportunity to pay our respects to Alfie and send our love to his humans who I know are heartbroken. You are very much in our thoughts.

Rest in peace Alfie, run free…

How gorgeous! 🤩

‼️ PLEASE READ ‼️😏

When at the field, you MUST watch your dogs at all times and make absolutely sure that you have picked up your dog’s poo and put it in the bin.

TWO dog bins are provided at either end of the field. Poo bags are provided. There is no reason whatsoever for leaving dog poo on the field other than you not watching your dog and that is inexcusable.

It’s so unfair.

Unfair on us, the owners, who have put our all into creating Sammy’s. And utterly unfair on other visitors who shouldn’t have to find your dog’s poo- it’s disgusting!

These are the rules:
Pick up all dog poo and dispose of it in the dog poo bins
Leave at least 5 minutes at the end of your session for a ‘walk around’ to ensure the field is left clean and tidy

No excuses.

Poo picked up. Toys away.

We love this place dearly and I know so many of you do too, for which we continue to be blown away. Please help us to keep it clean.

I will be spot checking.

Thank you

Our Story

Meet Sammy.

Back in 2001, our beautiful collie Sammy came into our lives. He was the softest, most loving dog that anyone could imagine which earnt him the nickname 'Baby'. We adored him. Yet sadly, despite his friendly and affectionate nature, Sammy had several issues which affected him. We adopted him at the age of two from a rescue centre and we quickly realised that Sammy was riddled with fear, no doubt from the abuse and neglect he had suffered which had been communicated to us. Thankfully it didn't take long for us to earn his trust and he showered us with love, but there were other much longer lasting effects. Sammy was terrified of other dogs; he would whimper and cry when he saw them and then quickly become quite aggressive. I think he thought 'attack' was the best form of defence! Walking Sammy was an absolute nightmare. Being a border collie, he had bags of energy and needed substantial exercise but allowing him the freedom to run off the lead was very risky and seldom happened. Even walks on the lead were not any easier as dogs would often approach despite my pleas with their owners. We were often met with dismissive shouts of 'don't worry they're friendly'. It was beyond stressful. Unfortunately, walking Sammy over the wonderful fourteen years we had with him didn't get any easier but somewhere like 'Sammy's Field' would have been life changing for him. So, he is the inspiration behind the field. We sincerely hope that we will be able to provide a safe environment for others to enjoy as much as I know our Sammy would have done. X
