On Sunday the Trail Hounds Dog Running and Walking canicross team took part in our first official race event run by the CaniCross Ashridge CaniCrossers Club. It was fantastic. I'm so proud of the dogs and humans alike. It was great to be around like minded people who love dogs, the outdoors, fitness and of course...mud. I think we all learned a few things, some got more confident tackling downhills attached to their dog Nadine Coyle and others learned about their footwear, you know who you are😁. I personally wanted to just get my first proper race under my belt and ended up grabbing a wee medal. Bailey was amazing. He ran like a train even whilst dragging my carcass behind him. I was and am so proud of him. He behaved perfectly and gave his all. I had an unbreakable bond with him before we started running together but canicross has somehow brought even closer.

Our little canicross community is growing but if you'd like to get involved then please get in touch with me. I run taster sessions for beginners and we have a growing group of runners that regularly meet up for group runs.

Another fantastic Doggy Adventure Day with the crew! And what a view! We headed out to the beautiful Buckinghamshire countryside near Great Missenden and a great time was had by all. By the end we had some tired pups as they all slept on the journey back home and who doesn't love a tired pooch? We are now running 2 adventure days a week and spots are filling up fast. Trail Hounds Doggy Adventure Days are proving very popular with pooches and owners alike! We head off into the Hertfordshire countryside for adventures and sometimes if the suns out we'll take a dip together to cool off in the river. So the dogs have a great time exploring before sleeping off their days exploits at home to the delight of their owners. It's a great alternative to day care or maybe you just want something more than a walk in the park. We don't do your average dog walk at Trail Hounds. With summer finally showing its important to look after your pooches in these hot times. Keep in the shade when walking if you can and keep it short. I always plan my walks to stay in the shade as much as possible and I alway carry plenty of water with me for regular water stops

As well as the regular Friday Adventure Days, next week I'm running one on Wed 9th June and have a spot available. There is also a space available on the Friday but these are first come first serve so get in touch ASAP

As the weather improves and lockdown is gradually lifted then why not make the most of the outdoors? Canicross is a fantastic, fun way to enjoy the outdoors for you and your pooch. You don't have to be a super athlete to run with your dog and you don't need to run for miles and miles either. You need never run alone again. Why not get in touch for one of our taster sessions and see for yourself what all the fuss is about😊🐕
