Thievesgyhll Camembert (Bear) ran in
The Cocker Spaniel Club Open Field Trial at Wykeham.
It was a bitterly cold day with heavy snow flurries and sleet, but some great spaniel ground and a mixed bag of game.

Bear and I were delighted to be awarded a COM at the end of the trial.

A wonderful day all round. The ground, judges, fellow competitors, Guns, and especially all those involved in helping and running and organising the trial all made for a perfect day out with spaniels.

A very busy couple of days.
Littlegill Harry (Theo) ran in the Lancs and Mersey Novice Retriever Field Trial on Friday and Thievesgyhll Camembert (Bear) ran in the Yorkshire Sporting Spaniel Trial on Saturday.
Theo made a good account of himself and was in the last three dogs, but failed to pick a partridge.
Bear had a great first run in heavy bramble on his first run, but despite starting well on his second run he was tiring, and finished without a retrieve. (But back home to pick up on the last two drives!)
Even though we had two days trialling with no awards,
It’s been two fabulous days, brilliant company, watching some great dogs, great judges and meeting new people.
Chuffed to bits with my dogs, and massive thank yous to all the people involved with organising the trials.
Looking forward to the next one!
If anyone enjoys driving up and down the motorway throwing £50 notes out the window, trialling is a great hobby for you!!

Littlegill Harry, (Theo), ran in the Northumberland and Durham Novice Retriever Field Trial, at Emblehope.
He made a brilliant account of himself, picking some tricky retrieves over some difficult ground.
Disappointed to not be in the awards this time, but
Theo had a visit to the pub as a consolation !
A really enjoyable trial, credit to all involved. Raymond Holt and his wife Ann do an amazing job, Lee Hartis and Irene Davison for all the hard work organising and pulling together the day, and the guns, and game carriers, and the judges who make the day possible.

Congratulations to all fellow handlers in the awards today. 🤩

Bear was delighted to come home with a COM today following his first Trial, running at the Tyne Tweed and Tees Novice AV Spaniel Stake. He was the only Cocker to finish the trial.
Congratulations to all the award winners.

Gus has been doing brilliantly with his training - but delivery has been a small hiccup, being reluctant to hold the retrieve once back to the handler.
Bear suggested Gus borrowed Teddy, and we are making progress!
