BUNNIES UPDATE 🥰🧡

We now have four babies who all have lovely soft coats, ears that are growing bigger by the day and a growing appetite for their yummy fresh greens! We hope this video of baby bun tucking into their breakfast brings some happiness to your Monday morning! After all, there are very few things that are cuter than a baby rabbit! 💛

MEET PHANTOM! 👻🧡

Phantom is a 5 year old lady on the lookout for a new place to call home. Since being with us, she has blossomed from being a nervous little lady into a really affectionate girl and we cannot wait for her to find her happy ending. She loves nothing more than a snooze, a stroke and to watch the world go by. Could she be the one for you? She is 5 years old and can live with other cats!

MEET MAVIS 🩷

Have you got space in your home and in your heart for this sweet lady? We sure hope so…and she does too!

Mavis is here with us after her owner sadly passed away. When this happened, her owners relatives were unable to take her in and so an inspector was involved in order to bring her here to the centre and into our care. Whilst she has had a tough time as of late, she hasn’t let things get her down and she is hoping that her positive attitude will ensure she has a brilliant start to 2024 and lead her to secure a forever home with a family that love her just as much as her previous owner did. We don’t think she will have to wait too long in order to find just that! She is stunning lady!

Whilst she hasn’t been with us long, Mavis has shown herself to be independent, affectionate and sweet natured. She is also a confident girl and so should settle relatively quickly in a new home. She isn’t a fan of being overhandled but she does love affection and fusses and is seeking a home where she is the only pet in the home so she can lap up all of the attention for herself.

The name Mavis translates as “songbird”, and this lovely lady is looking to fly right into your life and establish herself in your family tree. Don’t hesitate to get in touch if you feel like she is the one for you! You can email us at [email protected]

BUNNY UPDATE 🐰❤

The newborns are now thriving! They have all grown fur and mum is doing brilliantly with them. They are very cute and so we couldn't resist making a little video for you all so that you can see them! It seems we have 3 white babies and a grey/brown one.

Thank you for all the donations too. We are going through LOTS of leafy green vegetables and so your support is really helping us! 🥦🥬

Do feel free to suggest four more disney based names for the babies below! We aren't sure of their genders at the moment but we need inspiration!

That's right - its LeBun James and Prince Harery having a New Years Day snuggle! 💙💙

These stunning boys have been waiting for 4 months, 2 days, 13 hours and 21 minutes for a new home and so far haven't had much luck 😔.

Here at the centre, we would like to take the time to wish everyone a very Happy New Year! 🥰

2023 was the year that we made the move to our new premises here at Hollingworth Lake and whilst it has been a huge move for us, we have been in awe at all of the support and kindness that we have received from the community around us. Thank you!

In 2024 we will endeavour to continue to help as many animals as possible.

We will provide a much needed voice for those animals that have been treated badly, those animals that have been abandoned and those animals that may come into the centre ill, scared, nervous or injured. We will love every animal that comes through our doors, just like we have this year and we will share all of those furry, feathered friends with you here so that you can love them with us.

We shall see you in 2024.

BUNNY UPDATE ❤🐰

In what has been a tense couple of days here, we are pleased to say that mummy rabbit is settling well and taking great care of her four babies.

Any animal that has given birth can become stressed very quickly due to the additional worry surrounding protecting their babies, and rabbits are no exception to this. We were therefore worried that mum having been removed from her environment and dumped in a box may have meant she rejected her young.

She has been been placed in a quieter area of the centre and has been tucking into the lovely foods you have all donated for her and she has been making a nest and keeping the babies all safe. We have named her Merida as she is being incredibly Brave ❤❤❤

Our calendars in the onsite shop that feature photography from around the lakeside and Littleborough have now been reduced to £6.00, whilst stocks last!

Don't miss out. Its a great nod to the lovely place in which we live and all sales help the animals we have on site. The shop is open every day from 9am-5pm aside from New Years Day where we will be closed ❤

LOOKING FOR A NEW HOME - MEET PUDDING! 🐾🥧🧁🍰

Pudding is on the lookout for a brighter start to 2024, after 2023 saw her arrive here having been found abandoned in a cardboard box.

It breaks our hearts to think of Pudding left outside wondering what was going on and wondering why she had been left alone. She really is a sweet natured cat who is dainty, friendly and affectionate. She hasn't let recent events get her down and we really do feel as though she will make a wonderful companion to the person lucky enough to take her home. If there is one thing this little lady can teach you as you move into the new year, it is that bad times don't last forever.

If you think that you have space on the sofa for Pudding to sit next to you, then we would love to hear from you....and she would too!

I know its still the festive season, but you can never have enough Pudding right?!

Well, presents have been opened here and the animals are all having a fun time playing with their new gifts. Phoenix in particular is having a whale of a time with her new grumpy cat toy! 🥰

Christmas dinner has already been distributed too and the cats have all enjoyed some roast chicken. Their tummies are now all full so they are going to spend the rest of the day relaxing, having a snooze and having some cuddles with the staff here.

Our animals are all tucked up in bed and it appears that Santa Paws has already been and left goodies for them all! ❤🎄

Thankyou to everyone who has gifted items for our cats and small animals. We have been in awe at the number of people going out of their way to drop things off for us at a time where many people may already be struggling to make ends meet.

The animals that we have here may not yet have a family to call their own, but they are surrounded by love this Christmas 🐱🐰🐹🐭

UPDATE ON THE BUNNIES DUMPED YESTERDAY 🐰🐰❤❤

Meet little Baymax! He is one of the 11 bunnies that were found abandoned in a box yesterday.

All the rabbits are settling well and now have full tummies and somewhere warm to sleep. They have also been enjoying lots of cuddles with our staff here 🐰❤. The mum with the newborns is also showing signs of nesting which is positive. We are keeping her nice and quiet in the hope that she continues to bond with her babies in what has been an incredibly stressful time for her.

We have named the adults Baymax, Bolt, Chip, Dale, Moana, Merida and Mirabel and we are hoping that they will all find their disney-like happy ending in a few weeks time once they are ready to find new homes.

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has asked how they are doing and who has taken the time to donate to us this morning. We have had countless people bringing us food, toys, treats and hay. These bunnies may have had a poor start but there is no doubt that they are feeling the love surrounding them today ❤❤❤.

We will keep you updated on their progress. ###

This morning, only 2 days before Christmas, we have had 11 rabbits brought into us who have been found dumped in cardboard boxes at a park in Rochdale. Most of these rabbits are juveniles, however we also have a mum with 4 babies that are only a few days old.

Sadly, all of the rabbits arrived cold and wet through but thankfully seem to be in relatively good health. They are extremely lucky bunnies as without two kind members of the public going to check what was in the boxes, they could have been out even longer and many of them may not have made it.

These rabbits have arrived at a time when we are already full of existing rabbits and so the staff are busy setting up additional accommodations for them all and giving them a meal to tuck into. The staff will also be on site 24 hours a day throughout the festive period in order to try and give these lovely bunnies a chance at getting back to a point where they are thriving and happy.

With all these new arrivals, we will be needing lots of rabbit pellets, newspaper and hay over the next few weeks, therefore if you are able to donate any of these then we would appreciate it so much. Our reception area is open every day apart from on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.

UPDATE ON PHOENIX - (LOOK AT THAT SMILE! 😁)

Our lovely older lady Phoenix is loving a mooch around the festive Christmas cottage this afternoon. She is recovering incredibly well after her thyroidectomy and is feeling lots better too, as evidenced by her lovely smile! Her wound is healing well and whilst she did have a couple of little blips with her calcium levels, they are now back to normal.

Phoenix will be spending Christmas with us here so we will make sure that this loving Senior Kitizen is warm, well fed and happy

We would like to say a HUGE thank you to the staff and customers of Dunelm Rochdale for their donations of 2 trolleys worth of presents for our residents. We will have lots of happy animals on Christmas day. ❤❤❤

In a time where unprecedented numbers of people may be struggling financially (and especially so at this time of year), it is amazing that so many people have still taken the time to help us and the animals that we will be looking after all the way through Christmas. It's 5 days until Christmas Eve! 🎅🎄

If you are looking for a little hamper to entertain the kids on Christmas Eve night, then we still have good stock of ours in the onsite shop. They are all £12.00 and all feature:

- An activity pad 🗒
- Some glitter pencils 🖍
- A bag of sweets 🍭
- A puzzle cube 🎲
- A tin full of themed snap cards 👫

These hampers therefore provide something to do, some goodies to eat and some games that the children can play alone or with others! They have also been verified by Santa's elves as being super fun and the purchase of them also helps us here too as all money made goes back towards helping our animals!

In our Christmas cottage today is a bunny called Fruit! He is a cheeky chap, who along with his best friend Pastille is on the lookout for a forever home after being within RSPCA care for over 100 days!

Whilst the boys are enjoying the festive season here, what they would really love more than anything is a home to call their own. Rabbits do make excellent pets providing they are given the correct set up, so don't delay in becoming bunny parents as these boys are ready and raring to go!

Fruit and Pastille have seen countless animals being picked out and taken to new homes before them and so we are hoping that it will be soon be there turn to find that little slice of happiness.

Stitch and Buttons have been busy decorating their pen this afternoon in case they are to spend Christmas here with us. We think they have done a brilliant job - wouldn't you agree?! As you can see, it was also thirsty work so Stitch decided to relax afterwards with a catnip latte.
