**Ryedown Lane - road repairs cancelled tomorrow**

I'm very sorry, the repairs to the damaged road on Ryedown Lane at the junction of Gardeners Lane have been cancelled tomorrow.

The reason is the work being done by Southern Water on Pauncefoot Hill, where Ryedown Lane is both needed as an alternative route and also where the diversion for the road closure itself would have pushed people onto the dual carriageway.

There is an additional pressure now too in that there is a further burst water main on the Ower roundabout and consequently Southern Water will be closing the A36 once again to fix that in the coming days.

It's all enormously frustrating and an example of how utility companies carrying out emergency repairs are able to throw the HCC highways road repair schedule completely off beam.
I'm pressing for a reinstated date and asking them to look at solutions to get the work done urgently.

**A36 - National Highway resurfacing works**

A heads up that National Highways are starting resurfacing works on the A36 between Plaitford and Ower next Monday, 2nd September.

National Highways correspondence says they will be enhancing the A36 between Plaitford and Ower with a smoother, quieter surface and fresh road markings to boost driver safety. 🛣️✨

🕗 Work Schedule: Weeknights from 8pm to 6am (less traffic). Road open during the day.

🔴 Temporary Traffic Lights: Short sections between East Wellow and Plaitford from Monday 2 to Wednesday 18 September. Property access maintained.

🔇 Noise Control: Noisy work early evening to minimize overnight disturbance.

🚫 Closures: A36 southbound to M27 from Ower Roundabout closed at night (8pm to 6am) on 19, 20, and 23 September. Diversion via A36 Romsey Road and A326.

📅 Plan Ahead: Allow extra travel time. Work will be subject to weather conditions.

**A36 closure Ower - update**

The permit for the closure of the A36 northbound at the Ower roundabout has been extended until next Friday, August 16th.

However, I spoke last night to one of the engineers on site who told me that they hoped to be able to open the road either later today or tomorrow (Sunday) morning. The burst main is fixed and they were only waiting on the road resurfacing to be carried out where they had needed to excavate the pipe.

There is though another burst in the main, this time by the slip road into the services, which has resulted in them being closed since last night. They hoped again to have this fixed within a couple of days.
