Are you giving your dog downtime? โ Downtime after a walk or training is very important. It's vital for dogs to have downtime in order to process what they've learned through play and training. Rest and relaxation, whether through sleep or downtime, are essential for promoting positive mental and physical well-being. Do you give your dog downtime after every walk or training session? #dogwalk #dogtrainer #dogtraining #dogwalking #dogdowntime #dogrelax
DIY: Improving your dogs confidence ๐ Here's a prime example of Steve showing us how he builds Jax's confidence. Not only is the box too small, but he's also placed a brick underneath it to ensure it wobbles. Jax is hesitant at first as he knows he can't fit, but after continuously trying, he smashes it! How can you improve your dog's confidence? ๐ Something we regularly tell our clients is to go down to your local park and find a bench. Once you've found a bench, ask your dog to jump onto the bench seat. Normally, this seat is very narrow, and your dog will struggle. Use your dog's highest motivator (refer to our previous video if you're unsure what this is) and lure your dog onto the seat. This will take some time, and you might not be able to do it on your first day, but keep going! Once your dog jumps up, reward them. Continue doing this and find the next challenge your dog can take on. #confidentdog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #workingdog #dogs #DogChallenge #dogbalance #dogconfidencebuilding
Try This Enrichment Game ๐ Muffin Mania ๐ง 1. Place treats, ice cubes, or frozen peas into the ice tray cube slots. 2. Put balls over the top and ask your dog to find them. 3. Let your dog sniff out and rummage through to get the reward. Did you know that 20 minutes of scent work is equivalent to an hour of walking? This is due to the number of brain receptors working to sniff out threats. Socialisation isnโt just people and dogsโฆ ๐ Instead of approaching everything at 100 miles per hour. Take a step back, sit down, allow your dog time to take the world in. Socialisation is a package, with more than two items inside. Start taking your dog to busier places, sitting down, let them take the world in and see things going on around them. Have you been practicing this type of socialisation? #socialisation #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #dogsocial #socialdog #dogsocialisation #socialisationtraining

How do you find the best dog trainer for you? ๐ Itโs a minefield out there at the moment, with so many different trainers in so many different areas. ๐ถ Our only advice would be: Whatever your ethos and belief is in how you want to train your dog, find someone locally that follows the ethos you like. Once youโve identified this, look at their reviews. This is important as it shows what other people are saying about them. Donโt worry about what certificates they have. When this trainer asks you to do specific things, do them. After all, your trainer only has a very limited time with your dog, so the work you put in outside of your sessions is vital for the success of your training ๐ Last but not least, give them a ring, talk to them. Try This If Your Dog Won't Take Treats Or Toys ๐ Firstly, you need to take a step back. The reason your dog won't take treats or toys as a reward when outside is because it's overstimulated. This overstimulation can be either positive or negative. Instead, take it back to the basics. Start working your dog inside your home, where the stimulation is low. Once you see progress, take it to the next level, for example, your garden or street. Slowly build and see how the engagement is massively improved. Once you're confident in your dog's progress, you can take them to the park and continue reinforcing. Your Dog Knows When You're Lying ๐ Physically, men are likely to be more in control. This directly means that when you step foot outside, you're going to feel more confident about the walk ahead. However, if you're nervious about going out, nervous about meeting other dogs or people Your dog can smell the sugar levels within your blood. Although you might not be doing anything or feeling anything, the truth is, you are. To get from feeling not confident to feeling confident takes time and is a building process. When you feel confident, your dog also feels confident. #dogs #dogtrainingtips #dogtrainingadvice #dogengagement #recallyourdog #confidentdog #confidence

Teach your puppy on and off ๐ Teaching this behaviour is really important for the future, so it's great to start early. Junior here is showing exactly how it's done. Using his dinner as a reward, he's being asked to hop onto the stool and then hop off the stool. Every time he jumps on, he gets rewarded with his dinner. And every time he jumps off, he gets rewarded with some dinner. Later, if you ask your dog to get off something, like the lovely new sofa you just bought. They'll know exactly what to do. Let us know how you get on below ๐ถ #puppy #puppytraining #puppylove #dogtrainingtips #puppylife #puppytraining101
What is a marker word when training? ๐ค Your marker word is the sound your dog hears when they've done the right thing. Treats can be a positive outcome, but so can the verbal. If your dog gets a positive outcome from a behaviour, they're likely to repeat it. We use a clear and concise "Yes". What's your marker word? #dog #reactivedog #dogtrainingadvice #dogtrainingtips #dogs #americanbully #dogtrainerslife
This is the best way to crate train your puppy! ๐ It's important to start crate training your puppy as early as possible. However, so many people misunderstand this and simply think that your puppy understands that the crate is their safe place. This is wrong; your puppy doesn't understand and needs to be guided to understand that the crate is your pup's safe, personal space. To start this, get your puppies breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Place their meal into the crate while saying the word "crate" or "cage" (whatever your marker word is for the crate) Continue to repeat this. Be patient, and your puppy will eventually catch on, and understand that when you ask them to go into the crate, something positive will happen. This is how you can create positive meetings with other dogs ๐ Bailey is a Doberman puppy we're currently working with. We're focusing on his socialisation skills. To improve this, we've brought him to daycare and surrounded him with positive, non-aggressive dogs that will result in a positive meeting. This will massively boost Bailey's confidence and socialisation skills, giving him the added confidence he needs when he's out and about. Ace your recall with this one video! ๐ฎ To start, you need to begin pairing your recall word with something positive. Practice this in the house to start with. Once your dog is consistent with it in the house, take it into the garden. Once your dog is consistent in the garden, take it outside. Continue to practice this, and eventually, your dog will understand that when you say your recall word, something positive will happen.
