These two have such a sweet and sincere friendship, i will never tire of showing you how much they choose to spend their time with eachother 🦊 🐾 🐱.

SNAPPY previously had amnesia infection called Toxoplasmosis.

Toxoplasmosis is an infectious disease caused by the parasite Toxoplasma gondii. This parasite can infect many warm-blooded animals, including red foxes. 🦠

Even though the toxoplasmosis parasite can be treated; the damage left to the fox’s brain is irreversible. ❤️‍🩹

This deficit prevents the fox from being able to perceive dangers and/or threats in their surrounding environment.

This negatively impacts their abilities to hunt for prey and it also inhibits their capabilities of keeping themselves safe from predators.

Also, once infected with Toxoplasmosis, the fox is unable to be released as Toxoplasmosis affected foxes need testing regularly as the disease can remain dormant and reactivate silently causing unknown further damage to the fox and their cognitive abilities.

Snappy is tested every six months as a preventative measure. This is in order to try and catch any disease progression at the soonest opportunity.

Snappy is INCREDIBLY friendly. She even purrs when you give her a little stroke. 🐾 ❤️

When Snappy was first admitted, Buddy the resident cat (then kitten), instantly wanted to go and introduce himself 🤎

•• To note:
We’ve never encouraged interaction between them; as you can clearly see, they have instinctively, naturally, BEAUTIFULLY formed the most incredible, enviable bond. ❤️❤️

last few months have been extremely busy here at the rescue centre and the amount of call outs we receive daily is increasing which means more trips to the vets for emergency treatment etc. This of course is a huge drain on our finances and along with the cost of the medication and food that the foxes need it is becoming increasingly difficult to cover all of the bills that need paying.
The rescue centre relies heavily on peoples very kind donations for us to be able to continue with the work we do and our group has currently over 8300 members. If each member could possibly donate just £1 a month it would help us so much in continuing with the work that we all do here at the rescue centre and thank you very much for all of you that are already donating monthly towards the foxes.

Not sure if anyone else is following this amazing group! Get over and support their lovely beaver Tibi 🧡 Newhouse Wildlife Rescue

That one time that people all over America rallied to save one beaver…

We posted what was happening on Facebook and before we knew it we were contacted by all the news outlets, multiple state reps, multiple lawyers, wildlife rehabbers from all over the country, animal control officers and more, all showing support and all asking what they can do to help. A petition was started, less than 24 hours ago that already has over 14,000 signatures.

I don’t think I have ever felt so broken, yet so uplifted, all at the same time.

🦊🦊🦊 A fox can communicate how they feel with their facial expressions and body language.

Their facial expressions include:

1. Relaxed and Calm.
When a red fox is relaxed, its ears are upright, and its eyes have a soft, almost sleepy appearance. Their mouth is usually closed, and their facial muscles are relaxed.

2. Curious or Attentive:
A fox showing curiosity will have ears pointed forward, eyes wide open, and its head slightly tilted. This expression helps the fox gather more information about its surroundings.

3. Aggressive or Threatening:
When a fox feels threatened, its ears flatten backward, and its eyes narrow.
The lips may curl back to show its teeth, and the nose wrinkles, indicating that it is prepared to defend itself if necessary.

4. Playful:
During play, a fox may show a combination of relaxed features and alertness.
The ears are often forward or slightly turned, sometimes even flattened when excited.
Their mouth may be slightly open with the tongue visible, and there may be a “play bow” stance.

5. Fearful or Submissive:
A fearful fox will pull its ears back, and it may lower its body, looking away to avoid direct eye contact. It might also bear its teeth, but in a defensive rather than an aggressive manner.

6. Alert and Cautious:
When sensing potential danger, a fox’s ears are pointed in the direction of the sound, their eyes are focused, and their body is tense, positioned to either flee or investigate further.

These expressions help red foxes convey their emotions and intentions, which is important for social interaction, territorial behaviour, and avoiding conflicts.

🦊 Someone was feeling extra playful earlier 😍🦊

Each of our long stay foxes are SO very different.

Jessica has the MOST incredible, enchanting eyes!

They are so intense - photos just do not to them any justice.

♥️ This is Jessica 🦊

Jessica was earmarked to be “disposed” of by a private pest control contractor in February 2024.

Her and another v***n had started entering the inside of the business unit and the owners were very unhappy with this.

🧍‍♂️ 🦊 Foxagon attended and tried to explain everything and instead implement humane deterrence which is more cost effective and a much better long term solution.

The land owner decided he was not compromising and if we don’t move them, they’re being shot on a certain date.

We had no time raise petitions and media campaigns. We had literally a matter of days!!

Jessica and her other friends quite obviously just associated the place with food and had been allowed or encourage to be friendly.

WE HAD TO INTERVENE.

We really didn’t want to move them because it was suspected both Jessica and Sammy were pregnant (Sammy was and Jessica wasn’t).

It was our duty of care. Think of all the little innocent lives that would have been taken, all because they had learnt to be friendly.

Knowing that if the v***ns were pregnant they could have already had their babies in dens somewhere underground, all of whom would die without their mum…

We intervened just in time.

Sammy had her cubs at the centre and they were soft released together earlier in the year 🦊

Jessica however just still seemed way too comfortable and intrigued by humans.

We decided for her safety for her to remain at Second Chance as she would be at such a high risk of human harm due to her poor perception of threats from humans.

She’s a real treasure and her and Freya have built quite the friendship since we lost our darling Peppa. 🦊 ❤️ 🦊 ❤️
