VETERINARY NURSING AWARENESS MONTH - GET TO KNOW OUR NURSES πŸ’š

BIANCA YORK RVN CertVNECC

Bianca qualified in 2015, and has since gone on to achieve a certificate in emergency and critical care, bereavement care and further training on anaesthesia. She is currently undertaking a certificate on small animal nutrition along with one of our Vets.
Bianca has launched our puppy parties this year and is enjoying meeting the large variety of pups graduating every month - from very large to tiny. She also has a particular passion for nutrition and weight clinics, and runs these weekly, enjoying celebrating the successes along with the owners! She also has a particular love of all things cat - especially the ones with a little spice...(like her own)! 🐈

Bianca welcomed her daughter into the world early 2022, and so is currently working part time, alongside the fulltime job of being a mum. She has a cat and guinea pigs at home.

Question time! We've asked all of our nurses...
Why did you decide to become a Veterinary Nurse?

Bianca said: 'With an interest in animals at school, I did my work experience at several vets to watch the roles of the Veterinary Surgeons and Nurses. I fell in love with the role of a nurse due to the close contact with clients, being able to support and educate, as well as the caring side with the patients.'

VETERINARY NURSING AWARENESS MONTH - GET TO KNOW OUR NURSES πŸ’š

JENNY BILLET RVN

Jenny is a familiar face in our nursing team. She has been working for Mainstone Veterinary clinic for the best part of 20 years! After leaving her role as Head nurse in 2021 to have a baby, she has now returned part-time.

Whilst enjoying most aspects of the varied job roles that nursing offers, she has a fond love of cats and enjoys nothing more than caring for them in the clinic. Any of a slightly more feisty feline patients that need a little taming during their visit to us, Jenny is the person to ask! 🐈

In her spare time she now enjoys spending some quality time with her daughter and getting outside, usually visiting the beach. 🌊

Question time! We've asked all of our nurses...
Why did you decide to become a Veterinary Nurse?

Jenny said: 'I always knew that I wanted a science based career and had always found great reward for caring for animals big and small growing up. Following a weeks’ work experience in a veterinary practice at the age of 17 and witnessing the role of the veterinary nurse, I decided this was the career I wanted to pursue.'

Say hello to Jenny next time you're in the clinic! πŸ‘‹

SEEING DOUBLE! πŸ‘€

Meet Trevor and Petal, who recently came to us to be castrated and spayed. The pair enjoyed snuggling up to one another during their recovery. Aren't they beautiful? 😻

Also meet, Spud and Skye! These pair of Labradors came in recently for separate procedures but we think that you can agree they look super cute as neighbours! 🐢

VETERINARY NURSING AWARENESS MONTH - GET TO KNOW OUR NURSES πŸ’š

EMILY GLOVER RVN

Emily qualified as an RVN in 2019 and started at Mainstone in January 2023. Emily loves her role as an RVN here at Mainstone and thoroughly enjoys inpatient care and anaesthesia.

Behind the scenes, Emily is also responsible for our social media, keeping our clients up to date with what's going on at Mainstone and ensuring your pets get their claim to fame on our page! As well as social media, Emily is there to oversee that when the time comes, your pet is cared for after they pass and your choice of cremation is taken care of. Emily will send you a sympathy card and arrange paw prints or fur clippings if this is something you would like. 🌈

Outside of work, Emily has a Dachshund, a Shetland pony, a brood of chickens and a koi pond, all of which keep her very busy! Emily is also getting married next month! πŸ‘°β€β™€οΈ

Question time! We've asked all of our nurses...
Why did you decide to become a Veterinary Nurse?

Emily said: 'I decided to pursue a career in veterinary nursing after growing up with plenty of animals. We used to have six dogs, as well as small furries and I would always enjoy caring for them and tending to their individual needs. I enjoy spending my days caring for people's animals as if they were my own whilst they're poorly or need veterinary care, providing them with comfort and support.'

Say hello to Emily when you next pop in! πŸ‘‹

SUGGS'S STORY πŸͺ΅

*CAUTION: GRAPHIC IMAGES*

Recently, our team had an unusual emergency on their hands when Suggs got into a bit of a pickle on his walk. Sugg's owner heard a snap but Suggs continued to run but returned with a very sore left eye. When Sugg's was bought to the clinic and examined by our vet, Alison, Sugg's eye was very swollen and a large foreign body was found.

Suggs was admitted for surgery, where the foreign body was found to be a piece of stick and it was suspected that Suggs's eye may have been ruptured. After some tricky surgery, involving an ultrasound to help remove the piece of stick, Suggs's eye was intact but had suffered quite extensive corneal damage. Suggs's had a contact lens put in place to help with comfort and protection post surgery.

Suggs has since been visiting for check ups after his incident to make sure his eye is healing well!

Well done Suggs and the Mainstone team! πŸ’›
