Nanook Dogs = love dogs! Fun, kind, effective dog training, management & secure field to hire. We want you & your dog to be the best companions you can be.
We have always had dogs from childhood, and as adults rescued dogs of our own. The importance of knowing that some dogs are not as straight forwards as others & they all have their own unique needs & personalities is close to our hearts. The love of these animals has led us to attend courses to further our knowledge & experience. We are a puppy, dog & rescue dog tailored service focussing on posit
ive behaviour management. We offer puppy training, new/existing dog training, Rescue dog focussed sessions: training, integration, understanding a different approach & management; walk based training & reactive dog work. We care about giving all dogs a buddy, including nervous or 'challenging' dogs. Positive Focused
When you get a dog as a companion it's very exciting but can take up a lot of time & energy, which can sometimes lead to guilt, frustration & stress and that's when we can help! A dogs trust is something special and we want them to trust us as they trust you. Our approach is positive re-enforcement based as we want your dog or puppy to be fulfilled & happy after a training session whether it has been in your home or out on a walk based training session. How Do We Operate? First of all, contact us with your needs & book in a meet & greet for free either in your home or out on a ramble. We will familiarise ourselves and begin our bond with your dog, discuss what goals you have & discuss any needs & traits of your pup. Training sessions will either be held in your home or outside somewhere suitable tailored to the goals you have set. We will help keep your dog a happy dog & you a guilt free human.

π¬οΈ Supporting interactions.
π¬οΈ Our main man Bilbo has been doing super duper with engaging with his human when around dogs. He's suoer friendly, super eager, a little worried and not sure how to handle himself but he's been absolutely smashing it with his human.
π¬οΈ Another family dog (little brown one) is a little overwhelmed by other dogs and really only wants to be around her people.
π¬οΈ We practiced supporting them and advocatong for them.
π¬οΈ Engagement with handlers.
π¬οΈ No pressure to meet.
π¬οΈ Walking
βWhere we got too!
π¬οΈ Bilbo relaxed and engaged and not desperate to greet.
π¬οΈ Ruby relaxed and comfortable with Bilbo around knowing her personal space bubble is being respected.
π¬οΈ All family members (and buddy) able to enact a walk, chat, sit down and have a chat.
Thants the goal.
π’ Slow and steady to form good habits and set up for a successful future!
Doting π

Both these beautiful beasts have found their awesome homes with a swell guy.
Early morning walk for this guy.
Sticking to what we know in the shadows.
Super duper seeing dogs and engagement with me.
AND 2 CATS that surprised him and made his brain fall out. π§
Some chilled mooching and sniffing and tried picking some black berries - not sure it'll be his chosen hobby.
π¬οΈ Cutie puptootie Elsie is growing in confidence on her walks and seeing dogs out and about, and absolutely smashing recall!
Her room mate and brother form another mother Bailey always turns up for the snacks too.
π
π¬οΈ Keeping cool on hot days!
Walking early or ate and planning where we go.

Hello big handsome floof! The beautiful Snibs sometimes pops over from our neighbours and friends to help us out in sessions. Next time your up at ours why not buy your self some beer!
At Nanook Dogs we love rescue mutts! Each year we like to think about how we can help raise money for rescue centers we have worked closely with. This year we are doing another giant walk, possibly 2, keep an eye out for the next! We would love your support on this one where we will be walking between 18 and 27 miles between 2 RSPCA centres to raise money for the RSPCA The Stubbington Ark. We will send updates as our bodies crumble while we do some training!
β€οΈ Support the Ark Staff β€οΈ
On September 24th, a team of (mostly) Stubbington Ark staff will be embarking on a fundraising challenge to raise vital funds for the animal centre. πΆ π° π± π·
The team will be taking on a 27-mile relay walk to neighbouring animal centre, Mount Noddy, in Chichester. πΆββοΈ
The walk will be broken down into different distances with team members opting to walk 9 miles, 18 miles, and there are a few opting to walk the whole 27 miles! π
Taking part in this challenge are: Buffy, Charlotte, Frankie, Nick, Becci, Helen, Harry, Mark, Jordan, Gee and Vanessa. π₯°
To show your support, and to help raise funds for the Stubbington Ark, you can sponsor the team here: https://rspcasolentbranch.enthuse.com/cf/walktomountnoddy
Why not hold your own fundraising event in your local area to support us on the same day - this could be a bake sale, sports challenge, dress down day or just a general fundraising collection at work, school, college or your local community - every penny raised really would help the animals in our care! π
π¬οΈ We can often rush introducing dogs to people and think they're 'FINE'.
It's wise to learn how to be able to read the small print.
Little Miss Misty can get a little 'fizzy' when meeting new people and finds contact on initial meting a bit much to be comfortable with.
She smashed this as Buffy let her come and see what she was about with no pressure from herself trying to touch her or ask things of her.
We walked, we chatted, we let Misty mooch and the she decided she though Buffy was A-OK and gave her a face was ππ
Its good not to rush and against a lot of our human urges to jump in and get all touchy.
*food for thought*
Get involved with an ace community, learn so much through a wide and kind angle lens, make some friends and feel good about what you do!
Wouldn't be where we are now if it wasn't for PACT. We found an avenue to fuel our love for helping dogs and their humans move forward on their journeys with the support of a brilliant community and some pretty great accreditation for our qualifications π€

Oh 'ello Han-sum! π
This guys is from Romania and he's been here a couple of months with his new lovely family.
Their first time adopting a dog and wanting to learn about creating new habits - where habits have already been learned and we don't knwo how or what they are.
He's a smart cookie!
He did great on his foundation exercises for eye contact, check ins and the start of recall & loose lead walking.
If he can get these dialled we're off to a great start!
Looking forward to it!
Oh yeh!
Smallee wallees!
Happy to get to work with these fluff bundles of squish and their lovely humans!
π¬οΈ. The Shrimp has been giving us a worry π¦
He signs were subtle initially but he's been very unwell the last few days.
He has some mystery health concerns currently being investigated and then what the vets think has been a flare up of pancreoon too of that.
He on the up as we caught it early and suaght advice but I just wanted to share to remind us all that it's good to be aware of what's normal for your dog and know what signs to look out for thta something isn't right.
My forts indication was Mr Smalls not being keen for a chew and being a bit slow on his walk at the end of the day.
He's not a fussy dog and is good at masking his pros (as often most dogs are) Subtle signs can tell Us a lot early on.
Know your dog
π€ Your dog.
Bombs away
Cute or what!
Looking forward to some sessions with this adorable lady lump to help her with building confidence on her walks and form some good positive habits.
From a hectic start to her current lovely stable home.
This guy is great fun and super smart and looking for his forever family.

LOVE WATCHING PROGRESS!
This smashing chap is making some amazing progress with his dedicated humans.
From somewhere in Romania to Hampshire. He's young, he's bright, he's very excited to be alive.!
Here he is lying down (it doesn't matter if it wasn't for long, it matters that he was able) , focused on his human during a workshop.
Awesome work!
Perfect timing ππ€
The beautiful rascal π€
She's been smashing her training with her humans and made us all laugh a lot!

IT DOESN'T TAKE TOO MANY EFFORTS TO ENTERTAIN OUR MUTTS. Good for them and their brains. Good for our bond. Good for our rubbish. Love it! #dog #dogs #dogslife #dogtraining #enrichment #entertainment #dogentertainment #funfordogs
A little trick recall reward system I have going on with Little Miss Misty. She gets amped up about food and returning for a recall sometimes so we've been forming a good habit of recalling and stopping, I sneakily drop a treat, then I move to cue her to find it. This lowers her arousal, is a good, sniffy reward and it means we can keep up regular recall with rewards when she doesn't want to play with a toy. Jumping is reducing, enjoyment is increasing. Love this little lady #dog #dogs #dogslife #dogtraining #dogtrainer #havefuntraining #trainwithyourdog #nanookdogs #hampshiredogs #romseydogs #dogsdogsdogs #dogsdoingthings #staffie #colliex #recall #variedrewards #reinforcementdogtraining
BONNIE π€ Young lady Bon has been working on some patterns and engagement or when she's out on walks and things in the environment may get a bit much for her in what ever way and she may Bark, pull, become a bit frantic and not now what to do with herself. She's really enjoying the pendulum and smashed practicing it in a completely new environment that we haven't visited before, AND there were digs Barking in the background! She's knows this game well so knows what to do keeping it predictable when the surroundings are not. Its low arousal with minimal verbal input from the attached human. Looking forward to progressing this as we move forward ππ #stbernard #reactivity #dogtraining #dogtrainer #havefuntraining #trainwithyourdog #nanookdogs #hampshiredogs #romseydogs #romseydogtraining #solodogwalks #patterngames
Solo training and enrichment walk with miss Misty today. A lot of independent time and a lot of varied engagement activities during our walk. Its important to allow natural mooching even if they have to remain on lead to take in the environment and discover what's been going on through smells and exploration. It's also important to engage with our dogs on walks, it strengthens bonds, proofs behaviours and is often fun! Misty is a pleasure to take out and is doing so much better with coping with her arousal levels and interest in demanding treats is dwindling. π€πΎ #colliex #staffiex #dogs #dogslife #dogtraining #dogtrainer #happydogs #ifitmakesdogshappy #positivetraining #nanookdogs #romseydogs #hampshiredogs #lovedogs
Big Bonnie's back for some action. So lush to see how much progress they've made together π Introducing a couple Of patterns today to keep Bons brain satisfied and to give her a predictable activity to do when things around in the environment get a bit over stimulating. Life skill and tools to add to your kit. Impulse control doesn't come naturally to many dogs and we Make it harder a lot of the time. Its a good life skill to practice and reinforce positively getting out dogs to think themselves will give them control and us a moment to keep them safe, get them back, build Trust. Strong reflex to name and focus. (be mindful before giving these a go : does. Your dog already have a good reflex to name if you are using a collar? If they don't you risk pressure in the neck so may want to think about having your dog in a harness.) Bromley picked these 2 up super fast because he's a smarty pants man! ππ€ #rescuedog #rescuedogsarecool #cutedog #secondchance #rescuedismyfavoritebreed #dogs #dogtraining #dogtrainer #havefuntraining #touchtarget #trainwithyourdog #lovedogs #nanookdogs #hampshiredogs #romseydogs #reactivity #tripoddog #lurcher #handsomedog #handsome impulse control
Touch target! A wonderful, simple, always at the ready way to engage with your dog. Loose walking can be hard. This handsome spaniel used to pull like a train and lunge forward every few metres while at the shelter. Some consistency, clear communication and positive associations saw him progress amazingly. Know What you will be happy with from lead walking and aim for it? We were after the lead being mostly j-shaped and relaxed, some voluntary check ins and focus. Subtle signs of discomfort are easy to miss. Dogs often hide discomfort until it's difficult to live with. They can't tell their human guardians if something niggles them. If we are aware of subtle signs we can prevent problems & eleiviate pain. These 2 had great sessions with @rivas_animalosteo canine osteopath. Fun training in the sun with a beautiful behemoth that came to stay βοΈπ . No pressure recall & walking with me exercises. She absolutely smashed it the clever girl. . Fun & kind to focus on her WANTING to be with me & come to me. Enrichment is important for mental stimuand nourishment. . Engaging in little activities to get a dogs brain ticking takes a little imagination and a little enjoyable time. . It let's them use their senses and release cortisol, it creates bonding and relaxation too. . Walks are good for exercise but the brain needs exercise too. . *ALERT POST* . Knowing your dog very well is so important. Know their mannerisms, their 'normal' & you'll you'll know when something is up. π . Yoda gave us a scare this weekend & we initially noticed due to a twitch & odd leg placement. *tiny video snippet illustrates some of the little twitches* From there we took a few videos & tested his mobility, reaction etc & took him to the vet. . An extremely low temperature & heart beat along with being spaced, uncoordinated & off-balance raised alarm bells. . He was tested for underlying conditions & treated for toxicity. . He's FINE NOW & most probable he ingested something toxic.π± . He hadn't eaten anything untoward to my knowledge but it could have been the smallest thing & could have been so easy to miss the signs.πΆ . UNBELIEVABLY extatic he's OK & the fluids & medication flushed his system.ππ Hugely thankful for out of hours vets on a Sunday & their fast action. .
