🗑🌳 Antimicrobial resistance and the environment 🦡🌍
▪️ The environment is at risk if antibiotics aren’t disposed of properly. If antibiotics are disposed of inappropriately e.g. via household waste or flushed down the toilet, this can contribute to antimicrobial resistance in the environment
▪️ Always return unused or out of date antibiotics to your vet for safe disposal
▪️ Antimicrobial resistance is one of the biggest global health issues of our time.
We must act, together.

🦠🧫 What to do if you have leftover or unused antibiotics 🧫🦠
▪️ Return them to your vet practice for safe disposal
▪️ Inappropriate disposal of unused antibiotics could contribute to antimicrobial resistance and pollute the environment through waterways, affecting our wildlife
▪️ Don’t ever give your pet out-of-date antibiotics or leftover antibiotics for which they haven’t been prescribed.
▪️ Using antibiotics when not needed could risk side effects, delay an accurate diagnosis for your pet, mean that your pets condition may not be treatable, and contributes to antimicrobial resistance

💊💉Our practice is taking part in the 2023 Antibiotic Amnesty 💉💊
Throughout November 2023 we are asking pet owners to return any unused or leftover antibiotic medications to us for safe disposal. Please drop off any unused medications to us at the practice.
You can hand them in to a vet, nurse or the reception team. This medication might be left-over from a recent prescription, antibiotics that you didn’t need or out-of-date medication. Let’s keep antibiotics working, together!

⭐️ Feline Hypertension ⭐️
Did you know that May is Feline Hypertension month?
High blood pressure in cats, also known as feline hypertension, is a
potentially life-threatening condition that occurs in around 1 in 5 cats over 9 years of age. 🐱
This disease is treatable with medication, but 82% of senior cats don't receive blood pressure checks.
Signs of feline hypertension are often invisible and unfortunately, many cats only show signs of hypertension after the disease starts
to cause serious damage to their heart, brain, kidneys and eyes. 🐾
Call your vet today to get your cat's blood pressure checked. 🐈
