The last two days I have spent learning advanced myofascial release of the ventral aspect of the dog.

These advanced techniques can help in the following situations:

-Abdominal issues
-Post spay/partum rehab
-IBS/pancreatitis spasm reduction
-Breathing issues and chronic respiratory conditions
-Allodynia and sensitivity issues
-orthopaedic pain management
-Anxiety and trauma release
-Postural, performance and gait irregularities

These training days with Canine Massage Therapy Centre are always jammed packed with information and it’s always great to meet up with like-minded therapists from around the country.

I cannot wait to get out and use these techniques on my patients 😊

And that’s a wrap! 🎬

It’s been a busy few weeks, so busy in fact that I’ve hardly had a chance to take any photos of your little lovelies! Thank you as always for your continued support. It’s been lovely to catch up with existing clients, and new ones too.

I’m now on annual leave until Monday 3rd June but here’s a photo of the lovely Harvey, who was my last patient of the day. Such a beautiful, smiley boy 😍

The June diary is already looking busy, so if you’re not already booked in, do give the wonderful ladies at Chaseview Veterinary Clinic a call and they’ll get you booked in - 01989562251

The winner of this weeks best ‘post-massage pose’ goes to Merryn 😂 I’ve added a couple more of her poses in the comments.

This beautiful little lady had puppies 6 months ago and her mum wanted to get her checked over before returning to Hoopers. She had a few minor niggles to treat and then she was on her way 😊

Some of my patients contort themselves into all sorts of shapes during clinical massage treatments; but that’s absolutely fine because I have many variations to my techniques. In order to benefit from clinical massage, your dog does not need to lie completely still, and some of the techniques can be applied even when they are in a seated position. If you have a little wriggle monster and would like to know if clinical massage may be appropriate for them, please do get in contact.

Lovey to see Wilf the Australian Labradoodle in for his second session of clinical massage today. He was not sure what to make of it on his first session, but today he wagged his way to the treatment room and assumed position on the bed. He was thoroughly chilled out and ready for more! It was also great to see how much more comfortable he was ☺️

I recently met lovely Roxy, a 14 year old Labrador. Her owners wanted to see if clinical massage would help her mobility and help to support the treatment of arthritis.

It was lovely to see her back for her second session this week, where I was told she seemed brighter and was moving around with greater ease. Her muscles felt a lot more comfortable too, with less painful trigger points and more elasticity. This means the muscle is able to function more normally and will ultimately mean Roxy is more comfortable.

Looking forward to seeing you again next week Rox 🥰

🎉 Huge congratulations to Charity, Ch Xanover Black Sapphire of Lauraldean for her amazing results at Crufts this weekend. At just 3 years of age, Charity, a Belgian Shepherd Dog (Groenedael) won the ‘Best bitch’ class for her breed.

This little dog is such a sweet natured girl, and it’s always such a pleasure to see her in clinic. We always knew you were a superstar, Charity! 🤩

A massive well done to Charity’s owners who always show such dedication and care for their lovely dogs 🥂🍾

This sleepy boy is Foley, he came back in for another massage today. It’s lovely to hear that after just one treatment he is able to go up stairs easier, jump onto the bed again and get into the car better. We still have some sore bits to work on, but great to see and feel the improvements already made.

* The 5 Principles of Pain was developed by our founder a few
years ago to help dog owners recognise clinical and sub-
clinical signs of pain that can be managed or resolved with the
Lenton Method® of canine massage therapy.

* It consists of 5 categories that breakdown indicators that
canine massage may be a viable therapy for your dog.

* The 5 Principles of Pain can also be used to track the
outcomes, or improvements in your dog, that you see from our
therapy too

* Our method tends to work pretty quickly, usually within 1-3
sessions according to the research by Wi******er University as
published in the Vet Record by the British Veterinary
Association. And if there's no change, we don't continue to
treat. Your dog is our No. 1 priority.

It was so lovely to see this handsome boy again this week 😍😍

Blyton has elbow dysplasia, which is a degenerative condition affecting the elbow joints. The primary issue may well be in his elbows, but it has far-reaching effects throughout the body.

The second picture (courtesy of Anna Lloyd, Online Pet Health) is a great visual to help explain some of the ways a dog may compensate through their entire body when they have this condition. The muscles depicted in red are just some of the main muscles that typically show compensatory problems as a result of elbow dysplasia.

Clinical massage helps to keep Blyton more comfortable by softening tight, sore muscles and treating areas with debilitating trigger points and myofascial pain, therefore improving his pain levels, posture and gait.

If your dog has elbow dysplasia and you would like to find out more about how clinical massage can support them, please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Most of my regular clients will know that I have had to take some time off following surgery at the end of last year. I am very pleased to say that I will be back at work from 1st February.

To be completely honest, I have not been the most compliant patient 😬 and resting up has been a real struggle for me. However, looking at the many photos I have of your wonderful dogs during their Clinical Massage treatments has really helped me out!

Here‘s just a few of the photos that have helped to keep me sane over the last few weeks! I cannot wait to see you all again. Have a lovely weekend 😊

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas, and a happy and healthy New Year. May you have a fantastic time, whatever you end up doing.

For me, 2023 has been a year filled with so many wonderful dogs of all breeds and ages, and I thank you all for your continued custom and for the privilige of treating your dogs.

Please note that I will be on extended leave from 15th December, but plan to be back at work on 22nd January. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again soon, as well as some lovely new faces in 2024 😊

I first met this beautiful lady a year and a half ago. Her owners have tried many different therapies over the years for Ellie, who has hypermobility and a back issue, but they report that clinical massage is the only treatment that helps to keep her pain and discomfort under control. Without her regular massage sessions Ellie struggles with simple day to day tasks, and shows pain-related behavioural issues.

Did you know that in clinical trials with Wi******er University, 95% of dogs responded positively to clinical canine massage therapy? Read the full report here - https://bvajournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/vetr.586

Alfie was VERY excited to be in last week for his routine clinical massage treatment. He greeted me with lots of wags and squeals! 🥰
He felt remarkably good, just some of his usual niggles to address before he was on his way again.

Alfie has a very important job later this week....he will be attending his Mum and Dad's wedding, so it was very important that he had his treatment to make sure he was in tip top condition for the big day. Best of luck to all involved, I hope you have a wonderful day 😊

This is Fred, he’s 12 and a half years old and has recently had a course of clinical massage treatments. Fred has some arthritis, and has also been panting lots in the evening, pacing around the house and not being able to settle.

After 3 sessions of clinical massage his mum reports that he seems much more comfortable, and has not been panting and pacing around at night. Great news lovely Fred, keep up the good work!

Did you know that this sort of unsettled behaviour, particularly in the evening, can indicate that your dog is in discomfort?

I’d like to introduce the magnificent Tiggy, a 6-year-old toy poodle. Two years ago she had an accident and lost the use of her back legs. In an attempt to resolve her condition, she had spinal surgery but, unfortunately, she did not regained the use of her hind legs. But……that has not stopped her enjoying life and having bucket loads of fun!

Take a look at the video of her on a walk with her little sister, Annie. You can see how happy, playful, and energetic she is, and how she doesn’t allow the fact she’s got non-functioning back legs to get in her way…at all!! 😊

She has been having regular clinical massage to improve her comfort levels and address the areas of muscular soreness due to overcompensation. Keep doing what you do best, Tigs, you’re doing a wonderful job of enjoying life to the fullest!

This little lady has been for clinical massage after her friend, Storm, had responded so well to it.

It’s lovely to hear that after 3 sessions, her mum reports that she’s much happier, is wanting to go on walks again, and now hardly bunny hops when walking and running.

Well done Molly, I know you find it hard to trust new people, but by taking it a step at a time we can build trust and improve your comfort levels and mobility ❤️ see you in a few weeks lovely girl 😊

This handsome boy is the lovey Dave. He is 15 year young and has been coming for clinical massage to help support his arthritis and ease his sore tight muscles.

When stroked along his back and sides, his skin would twitch an awful lot which indicates muscular pain.

It’s lovely to hear that his owner has noticed that the twitching has resolved, which means that his muscles are in a much more comfortable state.

Please get in contact if you think your dog may benefit from clinical massage.

This handsome boy is Hamish 💙 Last year he had a very sore back and came for some clinical massage. There was a big improvement after only one session - he was able to lie down and get up with greater ease; was able to posture to go to the toilet much easier; and he was able to run like a crazy hound on the beach again.

Fast forward a few months (plus lots of shenanigans), and his back problem became troublesome again. Assuming there was some spinal arthritis, he had some xrays, but his spine was clear of any arthritic changes.

He returned for clinical massage, and after one session he was like a completely different dog - much more comfortable and back to his happy self.

We must not underestimate how immensely debilitating tight, sore, and hypertonic muscle can be. It can lead to lots of discomfort, altered posture and movement, as well as changes in activities of daily living.

Do get in contact if you’d like to discuss if Clinical Massage can help your dog.

This little stunner is Georgie 😍 She was referred for clinical massage by a local vets because she was struggling with a muscular problem in her back.

It’s great to feel how her muscles have improved after clinical massage, and are now much softer, more flexible and comfortable.

Georgie is a real little character and loves to throw some shapes during her treatment…..swipe to see some of the ones I managed to capture 🙊🥰

Did you know that you can bring your dog to me for Clinical Massage, even if you are not registered at our vet practice? I will need to get consent from your vet before starting treatment, but I can easily sort this. Do get in contact if you think Clinical Massage could benefit your dog 😊

I’d like to introduce wonderful Storm, a 13 year old Springer Spaniel that’s had 3 sessions of clinical massage over the last 3 weeks. He has the best top not that I’ve seen in some time, don’t you agree? 🥰

His owner tells me that he is feeling much more comfortable, and that his posture has improved as well as being able to lie down with greater ease. He’s feeling so good that he’s also managing to run a little, something that he’s not managed to do for some time…have a look at the short video clip his owner sent me ☺️

It’s been a busy couple of weeks and I’m afraid I’ve been rubbish at taking photos! Here are some of the beautiful faces that I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

So lovely to meet lots of new faces in the last couple of weeks, and be able to introduce them to the benefits of clinical massage.

My apologies to those patients that I’ve seen, but not taken photos of - I will do my best to get better at taking photos!
