I recently met lovely Roxy, a 14 year old Labrador. Her owners wanted to see if clinical massage would help her mobility and help to support the treatment of arthritis.
It was lovely to see her back for her second session this week, where I was told she seemed brighter and was moving around with greater ease. Her muscles felt a lot more comfortable too, with less painful trigger points and more elasticity. This means the muscle is able to function more normally and will ultimately mean Roxy is more comfortable.
Looking forward to seeing you again next week Rox 🥰

A typical massage session for Mya
This is the lovely Mya, who has been coming for regular clinical massage for a number of years, to help manage her elbow dysplasia and a shoulder issue. She is always a happy smiley girl, and that bottom hardly ever stops wiggling…..hard to believe that she actually completely chills out for her massage treatments and snoozes her way through it.
True to the breed, she feels the need to carry something, and each time I wonder what she’s brought with her. This video shows a few of her favourite items.
Mya has been a very lucky lady over the years and has received stem cell and PRP therapy to help manage her condition, as well as pain relief, therapeutic laser, hydrotherapy, shockwave therapy, a closely managed diet, exercise modification, home adaptations, and of course lots and lots of love and hugs. 🥰🥰
A massive well done to Mya and her family for such dedication 👏😊 See you soon lovely lady ❤️

Misty
Today beautiful Misty came in for another treatment.
Misty was not too sure about Clinical Massage at first, but after 3 sessions she’s now a bit of a pro.
It was wonderful to hear how she has been feeling more playful and energetic after her treatments, and is now able to keep up with her younger sister, and even get down and scratch her own back again - something she’s not managed to do for a while. Her Mum also commented on how much looser she is in her movement since starting Clinical Massage. In fact, she’s been feeling so great that there was also mention of her Mum and Dad being woken up at midnight by Mist emptying her toy basket and wanting to play! 😬😂🤣🤣
Check out the video to see what Mist has been getting up to, whilst living her best life.

I’m away this week on another training course, learning about new things that may help your lovely dogs. I brought Shot and Woody along to help with the practical side of the course, and it’s been a full on first day for us all. We are back at the hotel now, for a quick snooze (dogs, not me 😉) before we head out to get some food. I feel an early night is on the cards so that we can all be ‘bright eyed and bushy tailed’ for another full day of learning 😴.
I hope you’re all having a wonderful Bank Holiday, wherever you may be 😊
Beautiful Stanley is an 11 year old springer spaniel that I see monthly for clinical massage. He suffers from a condition called Spondylosis, which is arthritis in a part his spine. A few months ago, he was in so much pain that he was unable to get up and walk.
After an emergency visit to his vets at Chaseview Veterinary Clinic, and being prescribed appropriate pain relief, he became a little more comfortable. It is important to realise that arthritis is a condition that requires a long term management plan, and his wonderfully dedicated owners took advice from our vets and nurses and have worked hard to get him back on track. He visits our nurse Emma for weight management clinics, to help him lose weight and therefore reduce the forces applied to his sore joints, and visited the team at Wye Valley Canine Hydrotherapy to help strengthen his muscles in order to support his painful, arthritic joints.
A monthly clinical massage helps to keep him comfortable by treating areas of overcompensation and soothing his sore, tight muscles; and targeting myofascial pain and trigger points. Using this multi-modal approach to treating arthritis has meant that Stanley is far happier, much more comfortable, and is able to get back to enjoying all the things he used to do.
If you would like to know if clinical massage can help your dog, please get in touch.
