Fun times at Gilbert’s Gallop secure field with this young lady 🥰
Building a strong and reliable recall starts within the home. Then we start to proof this out in the open starting with gentle distractions (long line for management & safety).
Good job Mummy, Daddy & Pup 🥳
When I met this young male Border Terrier he was reactive towards any human or dog when out on a walk. Pulling on his leash, growling, baring teeth and lunging forward. (COVID time puppy, limited socialisation).
After some training sessions to help him change how he felt towards other dogs and humans. Yesterday was his second meet up with a trusted Husky friend 🐶 who helped him on the next stage of his journey ❤️
Harm free & positive training techniques. Removed his collar in favour of a harness, no more pulling 🥳
DOG REACTIVE
I met this lady recently, she is dog reactive & has been responding (rehearsing this behaviour) towards unknown dogs for 4yrs.
Treatment plan started with her mummy & progress updates in due course 🥰🐶🥰
Does your dog worry, jump around or try to avoid the leash being attached to their harness or collar.
Let’s desensitise your dog by practicing the leash on / leash off technique.
Mummy helping to desensitise her 15 week old cockador to her leash being attached.
Force free and positive training 👍
RECALL PROOFING - new experience
The sheep in the next field have this young man’s attention (safe situation).
His mummy has been working to establish a strong association with his recall cue…. Yah 👏
LOOSE LEASH TRAINING - patience, practice & consistency.
Reward your dogs engagement with you, praise when that leash is loose (J shape) ‘good’.
Harm free & positive training techniques, next session young Barnaby will be in a harness to protect his throat and halti leash 🥰
KERB MANAGEMENT - extra safety point before crossing the road & can avoid dog / car accidents!
1. Stop at the kerb edge, ask your dog to ‘wait’
2. Step off the kerb, your dog will follow, step back onto the kerb with your dog.
3. Repeat ‘wait’, step off the kerb, your dog may follow. Step back onto the kerb with your dog.
4. Repeat ‘wait’, step off the kerb & your dog won’t move 👏. Give your walk on cue & off you go, reward as you wish…..
Practice every time and your dog will get to the kerb, won’t step off until you give the cue (let’s go)
Harm free and positive training 👏
LOOSE LEASH TRAINING - practice & consistency.
After 3 sessions and lots of walking nicely practice in between sessions with his Mummy & Daddy, this young man is showing great engagement and Daddy also leading him calmly past people 👏
Harm free & positive training techniques, harness to protect his throat and halti leash 😁
A little play stalking time with my friend 👻😆
REACTIVE DOGS CAN ALWAYS BE HELPED 🐶
Pretty awesome day, this beautiful young Dachshund takes a walk with a friend for the first time, calm & relaxed.
Thank you to her mummy for working so hard with the modification plan, keep practicing 👏
Always good to see a client have a little fun after a successful & calm introduction of their reactive dog to my stooge dog. Good job 👏
