Gundogs are energetic, life loving working breeds that will join me in my happy place on our long rural adventures. Why choose Dawn2Dusk over all the others...
Can your dog run, leap, sniff and wag from Dawn2Dusk? Would they love a countryside or beach adventure where they can freely be the active dog they were bred to be? As an owner of 2 working cocker spaniels for over 10 years, I am well awar
e of the incredibly high energy levels of working breeds (the tail wagging alone is another energy level in itself!). I am amazed at how they can bounce through woodland, run through miles of fields, swim in the sea or finish up with a dip in a river (in a last-ditch attempt to clean off!) and after three hours, still want a ball thrown in the garden when they get home! With this in mind, I will be offering our active breeds:
Long rural or coastal adventure as an alternative to the standard 1 hour dog walks that are currently widely offered. Off the beaten track adventures using the Ordinance Survey App to guide me and my dogs around the best possible dog trails. Adventures around a wide range of different woodland, fields, tracks, potential river dips and coastal paths all safely away from any roads or hazards. All my trails are tried and approved by my own working cockers and they have awarded all trails 5 stars!
I am looking to keep my pick ups within my own area of Rowlands Castle and the local surrounding area to save on travel time and maximise play time! I have a large SUV and have ample room in the back for up to 6 dogs. However, I believe that 16 little muddy paws 8 fluffy ears and 4 wet noses are more than enough to love and play with at one time (and if I’m really lucky, I’ll get four slobbery kisses at home time!)
So I will try to keep numbers down to 4 dogs per adventure. I want to be able to engage with my pups, play games, practice recalls and encourage exploration of various environments. What working dog doesn’t enjoy jumping over logs, wading through muddy ditches, walking along fallen trees and splashing around in the stinkiest water they can find! On hot days (fingers crossed we have some!) I will look to use coastal paths so my pups can go for a good splash around and a swim. If sand digging, seaweed sniffing, boulder climbing and sea swimming is their thing, then game on! (and ok, a few tennis balls to 'hopefully' retrieve from the water. But let’s face it, the majority of them will become new toys for beach loving pups on the I.O.W.! This does depend on the crew of dog’s and owner’s preferences. LUCKILY, I have invested in a Mudaddy (worth every penny!) so I’ll make sure they get a warm wash and towel rub if needed before walking them through your front door. For everyone’s peace of mind:
Each dog will have its own tracker. All dogs will wear ID tags with my name and number on (just in case). All dogs will all have Dawn2Dusks’ own matching leads to eliminate loss or damage to your pups own personal belongings. All dogs will wear Dawn2Dusks’ own neckerchief’s so my crew can be easily recognised and observed when out on adventures. I will carry a canine first aid kit with me on all adventures. Security Measures
I will have all the owners and relevant vets contact details on hand on all adventures. These will be hard copies as well as electronic copies always kept securely on my person in line with GDPR Data Protection Guidelines (These will not include addresses as these cannot be kept alongside owners’ keys). I have a portable solar powered phone charger to ensure I always have sufficient battery power to make any urgent phone calls. All personal house keys will be labelled with a small, printed picture to identify owners’ keys by memory to eliminate any risk of owners or dogs names being associated to their keys). All personal house keys will be kept padlocked in a secure container. Only the keys belonging to the owners of the dogs I have out with me will be taken out on each adventure. Personalised Updates
I have an awesome camera, (that doubles up as a phone!) that takes amazing quality live photos and videos. I will share personally with the relevant owners, through WhatsApp (or your chosen means) and if you chose to share or save these, then you have the choice to at your own leisure. (Nothing worse than having to go onto a page and scroll through various pictures to see what your dog has been up to!) There will not be hundreds of pictures as personally, I do not agree with using mobile phones for personal use or having earphones in whilst ensuring your dog is living its best life with me. A few snaps and videos and then the phone goes away. Experience and Qualifications
I am currently in the process of completing a Professional Dog Walking and First Aid Certificate from the BCCS (British College of Canine Studies) to affiliate myself with the relevant organisations. I am fully DBS checked, and have public liability insurance. Not to mention doing this with my own working cockers for the past 11 years. I have been lucky enough to work for another dog walking company over the last few months which has given me plenty of experience and knowledge when it comes to group walks. However, I have such a passion for gundogs and working breeds, that I am now confident enough to bring my own personality, and my own fun to the job (its not really a ‘job’ to me, more of an absolute joy!) and offer my own local area a specialist service that I know I have years of experience in and will have more waggy tails than you can shake (or throw, as the case maybe!) a stick at! All dogs MUST have a solid trained recall, which I will observe on the initial meet and greet walk which I encourage owners to join me for so I can really get to know my potential pup pals! I am REALLY looking forward to this new style of venture in the dog walking world. I prefer to call them ‘adventures’ as opposed to ‘walks’ as it is exactly what it says on the tin…
