Lovely Labrador Barley joined us for his first little holiday stay, and enjoyed a run around at The Bark Park today with lots of new friends. Of course, we love all dogs here, but Labradors are always 𝕖𝕤𝕡𝕖𝕔𝕚𝕒𝕝𝕝𝕪 welcome at BBB HQ ❤️🐾🐝

Friday's first walk was a lot fresher than the rest of the day, and with the dewy grass and low mist was very much cooler for the dogs. Bear, Lenny, Lola and Smudge enjoyed their early run around, and Bear pulled it out of the bag with his agility skills.... who knew?! 🙈 Lola had joined us again for her third day care visit this week, and this was Smudge's last walk before leaving us after his holiday stay. Busy weekend ahead, but think wet weather gear will be the order of the day for us on Saturday!! 🙈 🌦 ☔️ 🐾 🐝

Gorgeous second walk, in the sunshine, followed by a spot of lunch today, with Lily’s Four Paws. All our seven dogs had such fun, and were absolutely shattered once back home 💤😴🐾🐝

Yesterday was Bear's 9th birthday! My original post somehow disappeared, so have done a replacement!

Having Bear in my life from when he was just a few weeks old, when he then had weekly walks, day care and boarding, it seemed only natural that when his owners asked if I'd consider adopting him, when he was 3 years old, I knew immediately he'd fit in and that Missy and Poppy loved him too. He quickly realised he was last in the pecking order in the resident dogs' eyes, and despite trying to win them over, they definitely ruled the roost! He's thoroughly enjoyed the last few years with the BBB team, sadly he's still a 'velcro dog' and whines like a kettle, but he's very much loved, and he's such a character ❤️ Happy 9th Birthday 'baby Bear' (first birthday without my beautiful Poppy 💔) 🐾🥳🎉🎈🎁

I saw this and it hit me right in the heart.

If you’ve ever had a dog that’s grown old by your side, you’ll understand. Walks used to be about energy and excitement - tugging on the leash, sniffing every blade of grass, chasing after squirrels. But now, they’re slower.

There’s more stopping, more resting, maybe a little limping. And that’s okay.

Because now the walk isn’t about getting anywhere fast. It’s about being there - together. It’s about showing up even when the legs are stiff and the pace is slow.

It’s about loyalty, love, and the kind of quiet companionship that doesn’t need words.

Our dogs give us everything they have for their entire lives. Their youth, their energy, their joy. And when they get older, they ask for so little in return. Just time.

Just presence. Just love. That same old walk might not look the same, but it still means the world to them - and to us.

So if your dog is aging, take the walk. Let them sniff. Let them rest. Let them move at their own pace. The walk might be slower, but the bond is deeper than ever.

To all the senior dogs out there - thank you for still walking beside us. You may be slower now, but your love has never lost its pace. 🖤🐾
