"They always seemed to pass me by,
I never knew the reason why.
All my friends had found a home,
And only I remained alone.
But finally, somebody came,
And spoke to me with a gentle tone.
I hardly dared believe it true,
Into my human's arms, I flew.
Our first embrace - my heart beat fast,
A family of my own at last!
And when tonight I rest my head,
In my new warm and cozy bed.
A prayer I'll send, high up above,
May all the shelter pups find love."

After 14 years having my dream dog walking business i have decided with a lot of thought and discussion (and a heavy heart)to take early retirement from walking and hang up my boots!
I can truly say hand on heart I have enjoyed every single day, rain, hail, gail force winds, snow, ice, and thick freezing fog just to see my fur babies having fun! I thank every single customer, friends and family for supporting me on this journey and I have met and made some very special people who will remain friends forever!
Thank you all again I will miss every single dog I have been walking all these years 🥰🥲

Like us, our pets might need a little extra TLC over the winter months! ❤️ Here are some common winter hazards to look out for to keep your pet happy and safe:

⛈️ Storms and floods. Strong winds, loud noises, and unexpected flashes of light can scare any pet, so it's important to know how to keep your furry friend safe and happy should the weather take a turn.
❄️ Antifreeze and de-icer. Both are incredibly toxic for animals and can kill them. Keep antifreeze out of the reach of pets and clean up any spills thoroughly.
🥀 Poisonous plants. Festive favourites like holly, ivy and poinsettia are all toxic to pets if they eat them. Keep them out of your pet's reach, or use artificial plants to decorate your home.
🥶 Snowy paws. Snow can build up on a pet's paws and cause discomfort, so prepare paws by keeping hair between pads trimmed so there's less hair for the snow to gather on.
🚘 Sheltering cars. Cats often shelter under cars or will even climb inside the bonnet beside a warm engine. Always check your vehicle for visitors or knock on the bonnet before you start it.
🧂 Salt and grit. Wash your pet's paws if they come into contact with salt and grit, as it can be irritating. Applying a thin layer of paw butter to your dog's pads could also help protect them from cracking.

This has just been posted on Barkway site so worrying when you see something like this !

Hi not wanting to raise alarm but I know a lot of people like me are loan walkers or runners and I had an unfortunate experience a few days ago while walking between Barkway and Reed. I witnessed a man ma********ng on the edge of a wood, only a couple of metres off the footpath. He was lying down and I don't know that he saw me, ( I turned and ran), but you don't do something like that in a place so close to the footpath unless you realise you may be spotted. It was broad daylight . I have reported it to the police. Hopefully it was a very isolated incident but they asked that anything else of concern also be reported to them to build up a picture.

Thank you to a Dog Lover for sharing this beautiful poem

“The corgi's lament

I woke up in my basket, the day after you'd gone.
I felt so sad and lonely, no lap to sit upon.
I had no-one to run to,
No treats to take with glee.
I had no plans for walkies, now you are not with me.
I know I'll be looked after,
I know they will be kind.
But you were my true Mistress,
And I've been left behind.
I hope your journey's peaceful and all I wish and pray,
Is I'll be there beside you,
Once again one day.”
