Shaw’s Paws will be closed on Sunday 11th (as normal) and Monday 12th August.
We will be back open and able to answer any messages on Tuesday 13th.

We only have 4 appointments remaining in August ☀️

September and October are now COMPLETELY FULL. Our earliest appointment available (after the end of August) is now 5th November.

We also only have 6 appointments left in December 🎄

Please get in touch if you would like to go on our cancellation list for any months between now and the end of the year ☺️🐾

Hi all!

Just a reminder that due to staff leaving Shaw’s Paws (and me deciding not to replace them with any new staff), the number of available appointments has reduced very quickly.
I only have the following number of appointments between now and Christmas:

August: 4 appointments remaining
September: FULL
October: 2 appointments remaining
November: 16 appointments remaining
December: 12 appointments remaining

Once these appointments are gone there is absolutely nothing I can do as this is me already working at full capacity.

I will also be reducing the number of large dogs on my books as I can’t manage some of them by myself and it is also detrimental to my wrists.

I do apologise for any inconvenience caused, I know things have been very all over the place lately,
however I have decided that it is easier to manage the business with just myself rather than hiring anyone else. I am confident things will settle back down in the new year!

☀️

Give this a share in this warm weather🌡️🥵🌡️Even the most well meaning owners can take dangerous risks in this weather.

If in doubt, don't go out.

Heatstroke kills your pets, and quickly.

How to prevent heatstroke:

🌬️Keep pets in the shade and cooler temperatures
🌬️Constant access to plenty of fresh cool water
🌬️Never have them in hot cars
🌬️ Exercise and walks at dawn or dusk if temperatures are suitable
🌬️Check substrate temperatures with the back of your hand before exercise - if it's hot for you, it's too hot for them

Do you know what the signs of heatstroke in your pets are?

🌡️Heavy panting and difficulty breathing
🌡️ Excessively drooling
🌡️Appears lethargic, drowsy or uncoordinated
🌡️Collapsed or vomiting

Would you know what to do?

✅Move to a cooler area
✅Immediately pour as cold as possible water over their body
❌Wet towels placed over the pet can worsen the condition, trapping heat.
✅In a true emergency water immersion or pouring water with air movement
✅Allow to drink small amounts of cool water
✅Continue to pour cool water over until their breathing starts to settle, but not too much that they start shivering
✅Pets that have lost consciousness will stop panting, despite still having a very high temperature, these pets require urgent aggressive cooling as a priority.
❌Try to avoid pouring water on or near your pets head, as there is a risk of them inhaling water which could lead to drowning, especially for flat-faced and unconscious pets
✅Once the pet is cool, take them to the nearest vet as a matter of urgency.

Good morning ☀️

Just a quick note to ask you all to be as patient as possible and to please bear with me over the next few days/weeks, I will be moving around a lot of appointments due to my Saturday bather leaving unexpectedly and not working her notice period.
Also the lovely Laura-Jo will be leaving at the end of August in order to fulfil her travelling dreams! ✈️

I am trying my best to move you all around so that I can still fit everyone in rather than cancel anyone even though this does mean I will have to go back to working longer hours and more days per week.

This also means that there will be a shortage of appointments available, (especially on Saturdays) between September and December.
I will do my best to fit you all in but there will only be one of me back to doing everything by myself so as I said, please be patient with me!

I (Katherine) am going on holiday on Thursday 30th May and won’t be back in the salon until Saturday 8th June. I’m off to Greece for a week ☺️✈️☀️
Laura-Jo will still be working at Shaw’s Paws during this time, however she doesn’t have access to emails or the business page.
If you need to contact us about anything over the next week, please text or call the number 07763098319 or message us on Facebook as she still has access to Facebook messages (just not comments or posts on our page).
We will also be closed on Saturday 1st June completely.

Due to an influx of new clients, May is now completely full.
Our earliest appointment is now Thursday 6th June and we only have 15 appointments available in June. If you are worried about fitting your dog in, please text us and we can get you booked in.
Our diary is also now open all the way up until Christmas so you can book as many appointments in advance as you like 🐾
