‼️Notice for HPM Virbac food customers‼️

Virbac are completing their annual stock take towards the end of this week and so any orders for food that will be required before Monday 26th November will need to be placed before 4pm on Wednesday 20th November.

Usual ordering processes will resume from Monday 26th November.

Please remember that it’s important not to discard your used pumpkins once Halloween is over in woodlands, parks or gardens etc for the wildlife to feed on.

This has become a common act in more recent times that is done out of kindness however it can be incredibly harmful to some animals, such as hedgehogs and can cause them to become very poorly🦔

Decomposing pumpkins also attract pests and can spread disease🦠

Did you know that Number 1 Vets has been awarded the Cat Friendly Clinic - Silver certificate by the International Society of Feline Medicine 🐈‍⬛ 🏆

“Established in 2012, the programme recognises that because of their unique nature and needs, taking cats to the veterinary clinic can be very stressful, both for cats and their owners. This programme is designed to help address these issues by creating more cat friendly veterinary clinics and so reducing the stress for cats and making veterinary visits easier for caregivers as well.”

🐾 Here at Number 1 vets we have a separate waiting area in our reception for our feline patients that has raised areas to place carriers on upon arrival. Cats feel more vulnerable on ground level and prefer to be up high when nervous.
🐾 These areas avoid direct visual contact with other cats and we also provide clean towels or blankets that can be sprayed with a calming spray and placed over the top of the carrier.
🐾 We also have a feline only hospitisation ward and allow cats the option of sitting inside or on top of one of our hides.

Number 1 Vets has a vacancy for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to join our SA practice near Cannock Chase in Staffordshire. We are an independent single site practice with PSS RCVS accreditation and ISFM cat friendly.
We are busy enough to be interesting but not so busy you’ll be burnt out. With a supportive nursing team and modern equipment you would be able to work cases up to your satisfaction.
15 minute appointments in set blocks and time set aside for operating means a balanced work load with time to contact owners in your working hours.
Experience is preferred but with 2 experienced vets (and 6 nurses) to guide you the less experienced would be considered. The ideal candidate must be enthusiastic, practical and able to work to high clinical standards. The practice takes pride in their relationships with Clients and their pets so great communication skills are essential to the role.
Case continuity encouraged to build your own loyal client base.
No out-of-hours, 1 in 4 Saturdays, 38 hours per week, salary up to £65,000 depending on experience and hours, pension and other benefits.

❗️🐈‍⬛ It is now required by law that cats along with dogs are microchipped and it is the owners responsibility to ensure that the details are kept up to date with their current details. This came into place on June 10th, 2024.

❗️🐈‍⬛ Failure to do so can lead to a fine of up to £500 ❌

❗️🐈‍⬛ This is to make it easier to reunite any lost,stray or stolen cats with their families and to return them safely home 🏠

“I studied at Harper Adam’s University where I qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2022. I’ve enjoyed my time as a nurse this far but particularly enjoy nurse consults. At home I am a full time parrot mom to my cockatiel Beege, but I also have two family staffies, Darcy and Ted and a cat, Soo. In my spare time I enjoy painting, drawing and reading”
