Remember with this cold weather it is even more important to ensure your horse is getting enough water. Horses will often drink less if the water is very cold, and will have less access to water if it is frozen. This can increase the risk of impaction colics. To encourage your horses to drink there are lots of things you can do. For example, add a good tablespoon of salt to their feeds, add warm water to their water buckets, make sure their feeds are as wet as possible and damp their hay before feeding. Providing several buckets of water with salt or apple juice added to make it more appealing (always have plain water available as well). You can also insulate water buckets with bedding to try to reduce the risk of them freezing.

When you visit your horse each day, you should check all over them for any issues. Check their eyes and legs for any injuries. Run your hands all over them to check for lumps and bumps. And make sure they are eating, drinking and urinating as expected. Not only will this help you keep an eye on any possible issues, but it will also be great for continuing the bond you have built up with them! If you are worried about anything, give us a call.

So... You've been wondering all this time what the static is for at the side of reception 😉

Our wonderful employee Leonie completes her apprenticeship with us this month and once she receives her qualification, she is opening her own dog day care on site specifically for medium to XL size dogs.

There is still a bit to build and finish but she is starting to create a list of customers so she is ready once licensing give it the go ahead 🐾
