🐶 What is Entropion in Dogs?

Entropion is a painful condition where a dog’s eyelid rolls inward, causing the eyelashes to rub against the eye surface. This can lead to irritation, excessive tearing, corneal ulcers, and long-term damage if untreated. 👁️💧

Common Signs:
✔️ Squinting
✔️ Red, irritated eyes
✔️ Discharge or tearing
✔️ Rubbing the face/eyes

Breeds at Risk 🦮

Shar-Peis, Bulldogs, Retrievers, and Chow Chows are among those commonly affected.

Treatment
Surgery is often needed to correct the eyelid position and protect your dog’s vision and comfort. Early intervention is key!

At Pet Practice Billingshurst and Rustington, we offer therapeutic laser treatment, using a K-Laser machine, sometimes as part of a rehabilitation programme, but also for wound treatment, orthopaedic and other types of pain.

Laser treatment is not only for dogs and cats! Here we are treating ‘Daisy’, a 4-year-old Guinea Pig with spinal pain. As you can see, Daisy is taking it all in her stride. The treatment takes only a few minutes and can make a big difference!

🚨🐱 Nelson’s Lucky Escape! 🐱🚨

At our Marlborough practice, 8-year-old Nelson had a little mishap while playing with his human siblings, Francis and Marcela. He accidentally swallowed a small blue elastic band! 😲

Thankfully, his owners acted fast and called Pet Practice right away. We advised bringing him in immediately, and after a quick injection, Nelson began to feel nauseous and safely brought up the elastic band within 10 minutes. 🎉

Had this been left untreated, it could have led to emergency surgery—so this is your reminder to always call your vet if your pet eats something they shouldn’t! 🚑🐾

"I can't recommend the team here enough. My cat needed surgery, but the quote I had from my previous vet was more than I could afford, which nearly resulted in me having to hand him over to Cat's Protection.
