This weekend was less cats and dogs and more human interaction as I joined up with fellow Petpals from across the country for our annual conference. It was very enjoyable and informative with guest speakers from the across the pet industry.

🐾 Inspiring Growth & Success at Petpals! 🐾

This weekend, we came together for our annual Petpals conference, and it was truly inspiring! Franchisees united under the theme Inspiring Growth & Success to share knowledge, collaborate, and celebrate a successful year.

From expert speakers on dog law, animal behaviour, and pet first aid, to valuable insights shared by Petpals franchisees, the day was packed with learning and meaningful discussions. A heartfelt thank you to our incredible speakers who addressed some of the most critical topics in pet care:

• Berkeley Harris of Sandler Training, our host and keynote speaker, set an empowering tone with practical advice and motivational insights.

• Claire Arrowsmith, The Pet Behaviour Centre with Claire Arrowsmith CCAB, Clinical Animal Behaviourist, provided actionable strategies for recognising and managing challenging behaviours in cats and dogs.

• Trevor Cooper, Dog Law Solicitor at Doglaw Ltd: Doglaw SOS, broke down complex legal issues affecting the pet care industry.

• Sophie Bell, veterinary surgeon and owner of Animal Love Pet First Aid, shared crucial advice on pet health, emergency care, and groundbreaking advancements in pet medicine.

• Phil Till, owner of Petpals Basingstoke, delivered expert advice on growing small pet and cat care services while emphasising the importance of delivering exceptional customer service.

• David Gray, Petpals Brand Manager, highlighted recent legal changes impacting the pet care industry.

We also celebrated the incredible dedication and achievements of our franchisees with awards that recognised their exceptional efforts. Their passion and hard work inspire us all to continue raising the standard in pet care.

Here is a shortened version of our advice:

2️⃣ 🏠 Create a cosy indoor space where they can retreat.

3️⃣ 🐰🐹 Bring small outdoor pets, like rabbits, indoors if possible.

4️⃣ 🎵 Play soothing music to mask the noise.

5️⃣ 💆🏻‍♀️ Try a gentle massage to help them relax.

6️⃣ 🧘‍♂️ Stay calm—your pet picks up on your emotions and body language!

7️⃣ 😿 Respect their coping style—let them hide or snuggle if they need to.

🎃🐾 Happy Halloween from Petpals! 🐾🎃

Halloween is a fun time for everyone, but it’s important to keep our pets safe during all the festivities! Here are some tips to make sure your furry friends stay happy and healthy tonight:

🍬 Keep Sweets Out of Reach: Many treats, especially chocolate, are dangerous for pets. Make sure sweet bowls are in safe spots, and remind little trick-or-treaters not to share with their furry friends!

🎇 Mind the Decorations: Some Halloween decorations can be tempting to explore or chew on. Keep electrical cords, candles, and breakable decor out of reach.

👻 Costume Comfort: Don't force your pets to wear costumes! If however your pet enjoys dressing up, make sure costumes are comfortable, fit well, and don’t restrict movement, breathing, or vision.

🚪 Reduce Doorbell Stress: Constant doorbell rings can stress some pets. Set up a quiet room with their favourite toys and a cosy bed where they can feel safe if things get too lively.

🏡 Keep Pets Indoors: Loud noises and extra foot traffic can cause pets to bolt. Keep them indoors and ensure your pet’s ID tags and microchip info are up-to-date, just in case.
