Mercer and Hughes Veterinary Hospital is a veterinary practice dedicated to providing both you and your pet with the highest level of animal and client care. We have our hospital in Saffron Walden with branches in Great Dunmow, Stansted Mountfitchet, and Bocking Braintree. We are a small animal vet specialising in caring for domestic pets. Should your pet need to stay in following an operation or

for ongoing care, they will be looked after by our dedicated night team at our Saffron Walden Veterinary Hospital. Call any of our numbers and you shall be given the details for Vets Now in Witham, who look after our out of hours calls and manage any emergency treatments. Opening hours:

Sat: 11:45am-2pm. We operate an appointment system for consultations to minimise your waiting time and ensure both you and your pets have adequate time with the vet. Our well equipped surgeries contain the latest diagnostic equipment including digital x- ray facilities, ultrasound, ECG and endoscopy. We have our own in house laboratory to minimize time spent waiting for test results. We have a large team of dedicated veterinary nurses who run daily nurse clinics where they can give general advice and carry out procedures such as microchipping, nail clipping and weight checks. We host puppy parties to give advice to new owners and help with puppy socialisation. We have close links with the veterinary colleges and referral services in the area, to allow more specialist treatment for your pet. We also provide specialist treatment with complementary medicine. We are a RCVS Tier 2 Small Animal Accredited Practice and a training and assessment practice (TP) for veterinary nurses. Visit our website for more detailed information.

**IMPORTANT**

Due to staffing levels, tomorrow, saturday 17th, our Saffron Walden branch will be open from 8:30am until 2pm for consults ONLY. We will not be able to perform any procedures or admit any patients for overnight care on site however, we are able to utilise our sister hospital in Bury for this if required. If you feel your pet needs to be seen please call us and we will advise what is best on a case by case basis.

We thank you for your understanding through this difficult decision we have had to make.

We have had a cat (not microchipped)brought into our STANSTED surgery. The cat was hit by a car, he is in a stable condition but we would like to find the owners ASAP.

Dont forget it will be compulsory for all cats in England to be microchipped and registered with your correct contact details from 10th June.

Are you concerned your details might not be up to date? Make an appointment to see a nurse so they scan your cat and check. If they are not up to date we can give you details on what to do.

Our Story

Mercer and Hughes Veterinary Hospital is an independent veterinary practice dedicated to providing both you and your pet with the highest level of animal and client care. We have our 24/7 veterinary hospital in Saffron Walden and branches in Great Dunmow and Stansted Mountfitchet, with Bocking Braintree opening September 2019. We are a small animal practice looking after your domestic pets and companion animals.

We provide a 24 hours emergency service for our registered clients and we have a veterinary nurse on site 24 hours a day at Saffron Walden to care for our inpatients. Opening hours
