Our Story:

As a dog lover, I'm sure we share the same concerns... the dreaded day of dealing with aggression from other animals? My beloved former Border Terrier, Murphy, was in quite a pickle during one of our leisurely walks. An aggressive dog ambushed and grabbed him by the throat, pinning him to the ground. It was something straight out of a horror movie! The world went into slow motion! We thought Murphy's life would end that day, and we'd have to live with the memory for the rest of our lives. When coming home, I was told Murphy might die from his wounds. Naturally distraught, I stayed with him on the sofa for 3 days, not leaving his side. That's when the idea for a defence collar came to me quickly. Fast forward a few months, and I'd created a prototype using an electrical fly squat, leather, wire and a 3.7-volt battery! After six months, Murphy recovered. Overjoyed but still filled with dread about our future walks together. He displayed signs of stress, trauma and was anxious outside unless held. Eventually, Murphy found the courage to roam freely, but only while wearing his new basic homemade defence collar. Alas, DogFender was born! 👇

Another fatal dog attack has been reported today.
Not in a park.
Not with a dog off the lead.

This happened on a busy high street — right in front of Christmas shoppers.

I’m sharing this not because the many other incidents reported through the DogFender platform are any less tragic. Every attack matters. Every victim matters.

But on 25/11/2025, Lambert — a young toy poodle who had barely begun his life — was killed by an XL Bully. Lambert’s owner contacted me through our DogFender incident platform, left traumatised, heartbroken, and searching for justice. I will gather all relevant information regarding what happens next with the attacking dog and will share it.

This is not an isolated case. It’s a pattern — and it’s getting worse. Not just in the UK or the USA, but globally.

Despite having support from government officials and the public,
DEFRA will not listen. They have now started ignoring my emails.

DEFRA — your legislation is outdated and no longer fit for purpose. Our correspondence makes it clear that a full reassessment is urgently needed. While you claim “everything possible is being done,” the reality is simple: it isn’t enough. The public, and our much-loved pets, are paying with their lives. For transparency and public safety, I will soon publish our email exchange.

To the COO of the CPI — who has also begun ignoring my emails, sent via government officials, I might add — this demonstrates a worrying lack of urgency for public safety and current dog law. For transparency and public safety, I will also publish that email exchange.

The question that now needs answering is painfully simple:

How many more?
How many more pets killed?
How many more human lives lost?
How many more families shattered?

How many more have to suffer before meaningful change happens?

DogFender exists because the current system is failing. We will continue collecting reports, amplifying victims’ voices, and fighting relentlessly for modern, effective legislation that truly protects the public and their loved ones.
