Good morning everyone! Some exciting things are happening at the shelter, with more animals and new species coming from far and wide✈️. In just a few short weeks, we will have new invertebrates, new reptiles and something we've never had before 🦜🙊!

However, with all these new rescues and surrenders, we need your help with getting supplies to make sure we can help all the animals we can and provide top-notch enrichment. This includes pet toys, chews, puzzle feeders, climbing equipment (cat towers especially!), tunnels and more.

Tragic Reminder: Reticulated Pythons Pose Deadly Threat to Humans

A mother of four in Indonesia has met a horrific fate, found inside a giant reticulated python after going missing. This devastating incident serves as a chilling reminder of the very real dangers these massive snakes pose to humans. 🐍

Reticulated pythons are the world's longest snakes, known for their incredible strength and ability to constrict and consume large prey. While attacks on humans are rare, they are not unheard of, especially in areas where these snakes are native.

Safety Tips:

Be aware of your surroundings: If you live in or are visiting an area with reticulated pythons, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings, especially in dense vegetation or near water sources.

Keep a safe distance: If you encounter a reticulated python, do not approach it or attempt to handle it. Maintain a safe distance and observe it from afar.

We're absolutely thrilled to introduce the newest members of our ever-growing family! Eleven tiny Asian Forest Scorpions have joined us, born on a very special day - Christmas 2023. These little inverts are the offspring of a rescued scorpion who found a safe haven with us, and now her babies are following in her footsteps.

While they're still too young and delicate for adoption, we're dedicated to providing them with the best possible care. Our team of experts is working tirelessly to ensure these miniature scorpions thrive in a nurturing environment. We'll be sharing regular updates on their progress, so stay tuned to watch them grow and develop!

What a bittersweet day Saturday was for the Shelter, one of our cutest animals (dare we even say favourite....shhhhh don't tell the others🤫) got adopted and went to his forever home! We are so excited to see him move forward with a family who will love and cherish him as much as we did 💚

So it's a goodbye to Malfoy, our little gargoyle gecko 🦎 But our job is not yet done, there are still dozens of animals here to be adopted by their future families and we can't make that happen without your help ✨

Bowie and Kylie have been busy today, like trying to go bask in Twix's vivarium, splashing in the bath (and pooping....yuck🤢), and just having an adventure 🤠

They have been running the poor volunteers in circles!😵‍💫 They definitely deserve a home that will let them roam and waddle around to their hearts content! 💚
