I realised recently I will lose the dogs one day. Both Hannah and Mr Darcy are now having issues with their legs, and occasionally Hannah cannot get up properly. Both need the toilet more often, and both get tired on shorter and shorter walks. Instead of walking around the lake like we used to do, now we go to the lake, a short distance from where we park the car, and stay near the bench, in the one area. Hannah, of course, doesn't want to leave. But she doesn't want to walk far either, content instead to lie in the grass, roll, then place her head on her paws watching life go by on the water from the bank. Mr Darcy, my shadow, lies at... or on... my feet, waiting to go home. The thought of age... their age... rips my heart out and turns it inside out. Tears form in my eyes and I stroke their heads telling them how much they are loved. I think... hope... they know. Yes, time is passing too fast, but for now I will try to make it the best time a dog can have.

Mum follows Southend Dog Training and, although she does not agree with the use of vibrating collars (which is what he uses on cases where dogs would otherwise be put down).. she agrees with a lot of his positive enforcement methods, which is how we were trained. That guy never used electric collars which is what crufts aka kennel club say, nor does he endorse them ... And this ban is from an organisation who agrees with... And CELEBRATES... dogs who are bred with short noses, bad breathing, and in**ed qualities! The hypocrisy is astonishing and disgusting.

Picture of Mr Darcy for tax who was never trained with ANY punishment.

Hi everyone, so glad you're here xx. Just a quick update. We are now 9 and a half years old. (10 in March). We are still as active as a few years ago but little things are harder to do sometimes. Getting into the car isn't as easy. Jumping on mum's bed is not as fast. We don't always rush to the door to go in the garden now, unless we really need to. Age is catching is up, like it does to all dogs. Mum strokes our grey beards and has tears in her eyes occasionally as she looks at us, so we try to comfort her, both pushing in to be the first for the hug. We are now on medicine. Mum says it will stop any arthritic pains. It tastes okay. We are both also on a special diet to keep us healthy, and we have one treat a day...a carrot!! We love carrots!! Anyway, we thought we'd share a few old photos, and new. ~ Mr Darcy & Miss Hannah.

We even get up on a special stool for it.
