Sorry for the radio silence.
My (Sam) lovely Mum passed away a few weeks ago and whilst I am still dog sitting and having the weekly day visit dogs, I just haven't been posting as much.
Dog Sitting was something that Neil has wanted to do for a long time and having a job where he finished at lunchtime was ideal, as we could both take the dogs who were staying out on walks together.
Just over 6 months ago, Neil got an 8-4:30 job instead, which is brilliant as it's more sociable hours, he's appreciated a whole lot more, gets more job satisfaction, et.c, but it did mean that I started doing pretty much all of the dog sitting and walking myself, including 'day dogs' on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.
Legally, one human is allowed to walk 4 dogs at a time...that's fine if they're all cooperative and get on well, but I know the dogs we walk well and know my own capabilities as well, so I'll really only walk 3 max, unless the 4th dog is one I completely trust.
Because of this, we/I can't take on too many dogs...we have Uma and the 'day dogs', so where we may have been able to have 2 or 3 dogs staying over on top of that, we now can't have any double bookings when it comes to stay overs.
This has lead to lots of people who have semi regularly had their dogs staying with us, not being able to get the dates they'd like...and because of that, I think it's best that we don't take on any 'new' dogs, rather concentrate on the ones I'm lucky enough to be trusted with that are already in our diary.
Sorry if that causes any inconvenience, but I don't want to be stretching myself too thin (I'm also a Mum and have other commitments) and want to make sure the dogs that are in my care are given 100%
Thanks for your understanding πΎπ€
