This is heartbreaking!

I seriously urge cat pawrents to invest in a catio, or cat-proof fencing, as they help prevent this awful accidents.

We invested in a catio when we adopted Pino, the first cat we had at our current property, and it cost a fraction of what this poor cat's vet bill is.

I would also highly recommend getting pet insurance, as this usually covers the majority of claims, subject to their T's & C's.

The owner of a cat who was hit by a car has launched a fundraising page to help cover his treatment.

If your cat is your BFF, it's understandable to want them close by.

Backpacks might seem like a good idea, but they are cramped, poorly ventilated and can get pretty hot especially when the temperature soars.

Skip the bubble backpacks and keep snuggles to home time 🥰

We are rather busy over the summer months, and with Luke's birthday weekend, and a project we've got going on in our garden, we can't squeeze much more in!

I've you've left booking your summer holiday until the last minute, please check any dates with us before booking if you can!

Higher rates apply to Bank Holiday Weekends, as well as any requests less than 6 weeks in advance, so it's always worth booking well in advance!

Dogs and cats were originally designed to hunt and eat wild prey.

💧Wild prey contains a very high moisture content, generally 65 to 70%. Most raw diets and canned food diets will fall somewhere in the 65 to 75% moisture range, whereas dry kibble generally contains only 6 to 10% moisture.

🏜Pets consuming dry diets generally remain in a state of low grade dehydration. Over a lifetime, this leads to Yin Deficiency - a deficiency of moisture in the body. Pets that are Yin Deficient may have
• a dry coat
• dry foot pads
• a dry, cracked nose
• flaky skin
• a dark pink or red tongue
• excessive panting

Dry food consumption can also lead to a Chinese Medicine description call "Excess Phlegm". Consider a pot of stew cooking on the stove with the lid off. Steam rises from the stew and evaporates. The stew continues to lose moisture and eventually becomes very thick and sludgy. The same process is occurring inside animals fed dry kibble. The body is constantly consuming its own fluids to digest the food. Sludge starts to form.

The sludge can show up in the form of lipomas (large, fatty deposit lumps under the skin).

Dogs and cats with Excess Phlegm may have thick discharge from the eyes (seen also in Dry Eye), gooey ear discharges, greasy stinky skin, and hot spots.

The tongue may appear swollen with a thick coating that looks greasy.
By eliminating kibble from the diet, many of these detrimental changes can be reversed. Feeding a high moisture, species-appropriate diet can help increase moisture in the body and decrease lipomas and mucous discharges.

Dear Clients,

We will be on annual leave on the afternoon/evening of Monday 30th September, then from the morning of Monday 2nd October, to the evening of Sunday 6th October.

There 'may' be a very small amount of cover for existing clients with cats without any special medical or behavioural needs, but please try to avoid these dates.

We don't take a huge amount of time off, but as our oldest dog, who will be 17 next month(!), is doing so much better since switching to a holistic vet, we are going to take the dogs for what will likely be Bear's last holiday.

This is a picture of some empty bowls. That's obvious! 👏🏻

Why is this significant? 🤔

Because these cats haven't been eating a lot, making their mum worry!

With just a simple position change of their bowls, implemented by us, and this is the result!

We are very good at problem solving with animal routines & husbandry, so who knows, if you have any worries with your pets, chances are we've got a solution! 😸

It's vital we carefully research the breeds we bring home, as some breeds are more disposed to certain health complications.

Personally, we are involved in rescue, and will only rescue animals, which is very often ones which have been rejected! 🥹

Personally, we will always rescue, and we haven't been shy to take on the ones with additional needs, both behaviourally, and health-wise!

Do you research potential health issues a future pet may be more prone to, before committing?

It's certainly worth looking into, in our opinion.

1⃣ Could it bump up your insurance premium?
2⃣ Will certain things not be covered?
3⃣ What would be the financial implications then be?
4⃣ What would the effects on the time it will take to care for them?

A Scottish Fold also appeared in the recent film Argylle, which cat charities criticized. Cats Protection has previously warned that the rising popularity of the breed has potentially been driven by celebrities posting pictures of them on social media.

Picky Puss? Finicky Feline? Actually, Cautious Cat is more accurate! 😼

Re-sharing this blog post from last fall. I think it’s an incredibly important topic re: how we think about cats.

The popular idea that cats are picky jerks is simply not accurate. That notion reflects our lack of understanding and frustration, not what is true about cats.
