Wet & Wild Monday! 🤪🐾

Instead of huffing and puffing about the rain we all decided to embrace it, and that’s exactly what the doggies did!! Sometimes dogs just need to be dogs… or seals, fish whatever they become in the water 🤪. Check out some videos on our insta!! They really were living their best life, as always! 😂❤️

Monday 🐾❤️

Quite a quiet Monday for us but that’s okay, we got some extra special walkies & cuddles throughout today ☺️🐾

Everyone was on their best behaviour & the weather was dry, all in all, a successful Monday and great start to our week. So many nice walks I am sure going to miss 😢❤️

Just like that we’re back, was so nice to see so many familiar faces today! I sure have missed everyone! Plenty of zoomies and slobbery kisses on board today ☺️❤️
Poppy decided she wanted to smother herself in cow poo.. definitely one of her favourite things to do, everyone else just decided to snack on it 😂🤪
Doughnuts for breakfast this morning for everyone on mochas walk, kindly gifted by mocha and her pawrents 🐾❤️

Moving away from heatstroke itself and looking at what else the heat can do.

I’ve seen dogs with mild to moderate heart disease develop heart failure within hours when the air temperature rises. Dogs with kidney disease that was well controlled develop kidney failure, and those with lung/respiratory problems collapse and become blue. These are not dogs necessarily being walked in hot weather but being in a home where the air temperature is hot. So get that fan on and provide multiple cold water drinking bowls! If they are panting whilst in the home, pop cold water on their belly and other hairless areas regularly.

From a vet herself… keep your dogs cool! 🐾

Today I am grateful NOT to be working in clinic. No not to enjoy the sunshine, but to be away from the devastation that heatstroke still causes despite multiple warnings. I am grateful not to be battling to save lives, and witnessing unnecessary deaths of wonderful dogs who would have quite happily missed a walk today.

To all my veterinary colleagues, I just hope you do not have to see too many tragedies today. Sending lots of love and healing as it’s part of our job which should no longer be part of our job and has a huge negative mental impact.

KEEP THOSE DOGS IN THE COOL, AT HOME!
