After the very wet winter last year our field gateways corroded and were left very dangerous for both the horses and grooms. We are so excited for these improvements ready for this winter.
We are so Proud of our boy Toby who has been shortlisted for the Army Equestrian horse of the year. He has given many military riders the opportunity to compete, and win, in military competitions when otherwise they wouldn't get the chance. Not only that he teaches Military riders day in, day out to ride whether they be first time riders or experienced horse owners, always adjusting is way of going depending who is riding him. It takes a very special horse to consistently be so good no matter who is on his back and we are honoured to call him ours.
2 years ago Toby was very nearly retired but thanks to our amazing team, which includes our Vet, Farrier, physio, saddle fitter and Yard staff he is going better than ever.
If you are a registered military equestrian and Toby has made a difference to your riding Journey please vote for him on this link.

We have had the most amazing day today at our clear round
We had 61 rounds of Jumping and every horse and rider gained valuable experience and we are so proud of everyone. The best part was seeing so many smiling faces.
Our outdoor school has a large renovation starting in a couple of weeks so we will no longer have a waterlogged outdoor arena in winter. We are so excited for this as we will be able to host these types of events all year round.
Today we ran a XC clinic over at Larkhill Eventing. It was a great opportunity for our Army riders who are wanting to hire one of horses for the upcoming ARAHT hunter trial to get out on the course. We are forever grateful for the amazing opportunity Andy and his team gives to these riders. Here is our new riding school horse, Will, behaving perfectly with our apprentice Belle who is giving him a lovely ride round for his first time seeing these fences. You will be seeing Will in your lessons and we are sure he will be a firm favourite.
Hacks
We have been asked by a number of clients about hacks. We can offer adhoc individual/group or Family hacks. If you would like to book something in that's not on our usual timetable please email the office at [email protected] to get booked in.
Our regular hacking slots are on Saturdays 2pm for children and 3pm for adults. These can be booked through EC pro.
Here is a pic of our horses enjoying a hack to the local river to cool off on the hot days we've been having.
We've had an amazing week hosting the Royal Engineers for their summer Camp. Yesterday we went out on the XC course for their final day. We are so lucky to have these amazing facilities on our doorstep and always grateful to Larkhill Eventing for giving all military riders the chance to train over their course.
All our horses were perfectly behaved for all riders as we had a mixture of first timers and seasoned eventers. The matching of horses to riders was perfect with a mixture of 70cm, right up to some Novice fences, and everything in between being jumped.
The last 2 days our ponies have done us proud as we supported the local military community with their annual family days.
They all enjoyed a short trip in the trailer and we loved seeing new and old faces at these events. We hope to see you all again in lessons or pony days very soon.
To book in with us please email the office [email protected]
You asked and we have delivered. Introducing our new Tuesday Fun sessions. 16:30 every Tuesday. Available to Children over 10 and Adults, as long as you can walk, Trot and caanter confidently.
This is light hearted fun session giving riders the opportunity to try different activities that you wouldn't normally get to do in our standard lessons. The theme will change each week but here's some examples of what to expect.
Ba****ck riding, riding to music, bitless riding, gymkhana games, handy pony and many more. This lesson now appears under the lessons on EC pro.
Is there something specific you are wanting to work on with your riding?
Do you struggle with confidence?
Do you want to progress quicker?
If you answer yes to any of these a private lesson is the perfect solution. We have availability on Sat 20th July with Beth for some private lessons. Please email the office [email protected] to book in.
The holidays are coming!!!
The count down is on until the start of the summer holidays and we will be running Own a pony days every Mon and Tues throughout the holidays. There are still spaces available for all days. The children get to spend the day with their favourite pony, learning how to take care of them , groom them and have 2 rides.
Open to children 5 years and older.
Bookings are taken via the activity section on ec pro.

Tomorrow will be a sad day as we wave goodbye to Sid, who is returning back to Melton Mowbray veterinary unit.
It has been a while since you have seen Sid in lessons as he has been suffering with unexplainable lameness. After months of working with the vet we can't get him sound enough to be used in lessons so we are left with no choice but to return him to Melton, who very kindly loaned him to us. We are so grateful to Melton for loaning us this gorgeous boy, who was perfect in the riding school. He is sorely missed by a lot of our riders. He is off to be to be a companion horse, which suits him perfectly.
We ask for your patience when trying to contact the office with enquiries this week. Sarah is dealing with family illness in hospital so is not in work during this time. The emails are being answered where possible by other members of staff.
We are forever grateful to our riding school horses and what they do for us and our clients.
They are never just RIDING SCHOOL PONIESβ€οΈπ΄
One day you may move onto bigger, fancier horses, but never forget the school horse who made you, as without them, you wouldnβt be able to ride anything at all.
The patient soul that tolerated your bouncing while you figured out how to sit the trot.
The kind mare that didnβt walk off when you stumbled up the mounting block, trying to get your foot in the stirrup.
The sweet gelding that picked up the trot even though your body was telling him to do the exact opposite.
The saintly angel that never spooked, which was a dam good thing because your balance was precarious at best.
Too often we forget where we came from. We move on to the next chapter in our lives and say, βOh my gosh, Iβm learning so much! Iβm going so far! I could never do this kind of thing on that old school horse!β
But infact you could, you were just not ready to do all these things back then.
But that school horse gave you the confidence to move forward. That school horse took care of you in all respects and allowed you to take the time you needed to find your way. You couldnβt have become the rider you are today without that riding school horse, always remember to love them unconditionally for our riding school horses are what help start your dream, make dreams come true and get you ready for those bigger dreams π΄
We have had an amazing 2 days of competition at our combined training event and we would like to thank each and every one of you who have supported us either by competing, letting your children compete or volunteering. Days like today could not run without you.
Well done to all the competitors who rode brilliantly. A special well done to Lisa Leighton who was our combined training champion and Emma Brown (Heidi Browne) who was our reserve champion.
I special thanks to Ems Lens Photography, our photographer for the weekend. The dressage photos are already available to purchase and all jumping photos will be online this evening, and available to buy tomorrow. Here is the link

It has been a while since we gave you a Gunner update.
Today he had his first taste of the big wide world. He was perfectly behaved coming to and from the field. He certainly seems to have picked up his mum's quiet temperament.

Half term
Over half term we will be holding 2 own a pony days. This is a chance for the children to spend a day with their favourite riding school ponies. They will ride twice and have stable management lessons throughout the day. These will be held Tues 28th May and Friday 31st May. 9:00-15:00. These are booked through the activity courses section on EC pro.
Upcoming Events.
Friday 24th May we have Showjumping course hire around our competition jumps. There is an option to hire our riding school horses and have a lesson with one of our insutructors. If you have your own horse your are welcome to school around the course on your own or have a lesson from one of our instructors. Please book the time slot you require and if you want a lesson or horse hire please add this on too.
Friday 7th June. Clinic with Johnathan Bowman around our competition showjumps. Having competed at international level, and still producing and competing young horses, Johnathan is an accredited BS trainer, as well as BHS and UKCC. Johnathan trains all abilities of horse and rider. Working on the confidence of both, and creating a partnership is key, regardless of level. Working from pole level upwards, the training sessions are structured on laying down the correct stages of training. Key aspects will be straightness, the quality of the canter, and keeping the balance and rhythm between fences. So if you are looking to develop and start jumping, or perfect your jumping round for eventing or BS, these sessions will be perfect to get you in your stride for the summer. This date is for people with their own horse but he will be doing more dates with Johnathan which people can hire a school horse to join in on.
Both these events are booked through the events section of EC pro.
We look forward to seeing you all soon.
Due to a couple of cancellations we have 2 spaces come available for our arena XC clinic, riding a Riding school horse.
Cost is Β£30 for the lessons and Β£20 for the horse hire.
Please book via EC pro, under events.
The saddle club are proud to announce the safe arrival of Gunner, born at 7am this morning. Both Ruby amd Gunner are doing well and had a clean bill of health from the vet.
As tempting as it is to go and see the foal we ask that you leave Mum and baby to bond in the quiet and only staff to go round to the corral. We promise we will show him off soon.
We have a rare chance of being able to offer a couple of Private lessons on a weekend.
Sat 4th May with our new instructor Beth.
9am and 9:30 30min Slot.
A private lesson is a perfect opportunity to focus on something you want working on and people often progress a lot quicker. You have the instructors full attention on you.
To book on please email the office [email protected]

Our new regular Saturday instructor might be a familiar face!
Beth joined the Saddle Club as a weekend groom back in April 2021 and filled a variety of roles over the next 2 years including supporting in the office and escorting our younger riders on hacks. After studying for her BHS exams in 2023 and qualifying as a Stage 2 Coach, sheβs back!
An RLC reservist and military spouse herself, Beth understands how special the Saddle Club is both as a riding school and welfare facility. Sheβs looking forward to putting everyone through their paces over the coming weeks and working with our riders to achieve their goals.

We would like to send out a massive thank you to all those who have supported us thus far. The welfare of the horses is paramount to us and it will all help towards feed, forage and bedding for them. With some of the funds raised already we have been able to supply the horses with much needed bedding. With flutters of snow in the air, timing could not be more perfect to make their stables cozy.
When Stables Manager Sgt Gostling and Cpl Cook play Santa to deliver presents for our liveries, it's looking a lot like Christmas! More to come but wishing all our members, liveries, clients, riders, staff and supporters a very Merry Christmas!
Happy Halloween if you're going out, or staying in a little bit early so we can say.. Wow what a show, thank you all for supporting. #saddleclublife is pulling together and making it happen. Perfect to recall the night before spooks and ghouls and........trick or treat. Treats for the horses tomorrow of course!
Well done everyone in the 1m class, some fab rounds. Prizes presented by our recently appointed Stables SNCO Sgt Peter Gostling, multi tasking all day!
