Currently situating cows, sheep, pigs, alpacas, emus and many more animals, we cannot wait to open!

We have a footpath that runs through the farm where you can see some of the animals We are a Family run farm with a deep passion for business & hospitality. We purchased the farm in June 2022 and brought back life to the farm with a farmhouse renovation & modernisation. We are now planning to completely re-build the farm and open to the public as a full attraction as seen in our latest news page!

Our farm is situated on the heritage coast offering fantastic coastal views. Located between the towns of Saltburn and Loftus our farm is easily accessible by public transport & the very popular Cleveland Way walking route.

Big Bazza ❤️
I’m still working on calendars and getting some good photos, what animals would you prefer to see? A variety or specific ones?

Thanks

It’s Tupping season 😂
I think we may have put a little bit too much raddle paint on the boys and we now have orange sheep🤦🏽‍♀️ so if anyone from the road thinks it looks like there has been a massacre, don’t worry, it’s just Tupping time🤣🫣

As you all know, we lost my amazing Dad last week, the man behind the crazy idea of Gripps Farm! And Im currently in the process of creating a calendar, filled with my own photos of the gripps farm animals and It got me thinking…
Firstly who would buy one?
Secondly, I would like to be able to put a certain % of the earnings to MacMillan cancer support?
They were absolutely fantastic with my Dad and family and they were always there or at the end of the phone 📞 and I’d love to support them back!

Who’s with me🤞

Please can I just remind people that there is currently no public access through the farm yard/our drive, the public footpath runs straight up/down past the farm . We have gates into our farm for our access only aswell as electric gates that require keys to open and they will break if people try to pull them/climb over them to get through . I’m going to order some signs to make it more clear, thankyou 🙂

It is with profound sadness that we lost ‘our sidney’ last night, after a long hard struggle that he fought with such courage and determination. He died peacefully with myself, Jordan and Kerys by his side, surrounded with love. We put this on here as he always shared his journey with you all and took great comfort from all the well wishes and messages of support.
He was the light of our family, a source of guidance, hope and inspiration and we will love and miss him forever more.
Sleep well our darling, no more pain❤️

Today we had Peter Wright and his film crew with us treating our poorly Tup, Guy!
Farm hand Kieran was the one infront of the camera today as himself and Brandon both do all the work with the animals now, so he could explain perfectly what was wrong with Guy and take Peters treatment plan on board!

We will be looking forward to seeing this on the screens eventually and I was told our filming from last year shouldn’t be much longer till aired 😆

I’m still getting the hang of this camera milarky, I feel the photos look better when closer up, maybe I could do with something with a bit more zoom 🔎
Anyway, me and the girls enjoyed a brisk wander around the farm today to get some pictures, which one is your favourite 🥰

Animal fact of the day 🐑

The Blacknose sheep originates from the Valais canton of Switzerland. Native to the Upper Valais region, the Blacknose graze in the Alps in the summer months June-September. Though housed through the winter, the Blacknose is a sturdy breed which is well adapted to the harsh conditions of the mountains, which can be endured even in the summer months.

There is evidence that the Blacknose has existed since the 15th century, however they have changed greatly in appearance over the years and once resembled the likes of a Scottish Blackface. Over time, characteristics have evolved to the majestic sheep we see today.

In Valais, it is reported that there are in the region of 13,700 registered Blacknose sheep in the breed flock book. As a large, relatively slow-maturing breed, Valais Blacknose ewes in Switzerland are usually not bred until they are over 12 months of age, normally lambing for the first time at 18-24 months old. They are also nonseasonal breeders, with a reproduction rate of 1.6 lambs per year, however it is recommended to breed naturally once a year.
