Sickness in dogs.
There’s lots of talk about dogs getting sick from the beaches on the north coast. In my opinion and speaking to dog owners that don’t visit the beach and are still sick ,that it’s virus. Most seaside resorts get floods of people and dogs, it’s normal that viruses will come too. A few of mine have had it including my own. For generally well dogs it soon passes but for very young dogs or dogs in their later years it seems to be more vicious. My middle aged JR got away with a bit of vomiting, my elderly lurcher has been really ill. The vets advice is to starve your dog while the vomiting persists. Then offer only very plain food such as rice and chicken. (Boil the bones and add this to the rice) give little and often. Don’t exert your dog and if you notice that they’re not drinking or they’ve not perked up after a couple of days I’d personally get them straight to the vet, inform vet before arriving so they can take extra measures. I believe this virus is really contagious.
It doesn’t take anything away from the fact that our shores are being used as a dumping ground for s**t from big profitable companies. What’s happened here with the crabs washing up dead in their thousands and then the octopus is disgraceful. We should be working to refresh the supplies with hatcheries, find out the source and heavily fine them. This shouldn’t be forgotten or be allowed to be covered up.
