I've never had a Rottweiler who doesn't love to swim! This gorgeous, gentle girl is in her prime. Heidi has swam with me, since a puppy. She has recently lost a lot of weight, to help manage a recent pain issue. I thought she was beautiful before but she's even more gorgeous now!
This bonny girl is the beautiful Belle. Belle has only had 6 pool sessions, so far. She is only 2 years old and has suffered with undiagnosed lameness. She was previously lame all the time, even at home. Now her lameness has decreased and she has only been lame once after excessive exercise. Still work to do though! Belle is a very independent girl, so session has to be adapted to ensure she stays focused and voluntarily, consciously involved.
This bundle of joy is Tilly. Tilly came for hydrotherapy on 22nd Sept this year, after femoral head excision surgery. She was not weight bearing on it at all and permanently held it up. After hydrotherapy Tilly is now fully extending leg with paw on the floor, using it when running, standing and walking. Tilly has also had laser at local vets to aid her recovery. We still need to work on the leg, to engage full weight bearing and build muscle mass but she's definitely recovering well. It helps a lot that Tilly loves a squeaky and loves to swim, so she consciously, voluntarily takes part in her rehabilitation.
Boston
Here is the big boss man Boston! I have found Rottweilers to be the most gentle giants and amazing swimmers. This video is of Boston's first swim. He absolutely loves to swim and his exuberance for life and swimming is highly contagious and very amusing!
Here is one of my old favourites Jarvis! Jarvis has been having hydrotherapy since Jan 17. He came to build strength and muscle mass post femoral head excision surgery. He started in the tudor aqua treadmill and progressed to the pool. He has fully recovered but still comes once a week to maintain his fitness and strength. Plus he loves it! if you met him, you would want to steal him, as he's adorable! Jarvis wears a neck collar in the water as he hates getting water in his ears.
Introducing nearly fully grown puppy Jaxon! Jaxon is a very exuberant boy, whose energy many people find hard to handle. However he is very well trained by his owner, so it was a pleasure to work with him. Jaxon came to me because he has a fear of swimming out of his depth, with his other flat coated friends. After a few weeks, lots of slobbery kisses and a lot of the owner's patience. This is what Jaxon achieved last weekend!!!! Well done Jaxon u big sweetie!
Local vet and veterinary nurse bring their dog for swim, no pressure! First session couldn't have gone better as intelligent Aigle is such a well trained dog. He responds to commands and just gets on with it. Fun session and owners made me a little video!
Layla swimming! Layla didn't have the best start in life but Layla is a very lucky rescue dog to have found such a good home with her 2 lovely owners.
Here is Ridley the staffie. Brachycephalic breeds are not great swimmers, as hard to keep their noses out of the water. So have to be careful with this type of breed when swimming. Short bursts, plenty of rests and care taken to keep their heads out of water. However Ridley is a great swimmer and non weight bearing exercise really helps his elbow dysplasia. Ridley is another rescue dog to have found a lovely home. Another example of a lovely natured, gentle Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Here is Milo the Jack Russell swimming! Apologies for insane doggy talking! Didn't know i was being filmed lol!
Here is the adorable Milo! Milo has had cruciate surgery and started hydrotherapy in the Tudor aqua treadmill. He has now advanced to the pool and could not only get his gold medal swimming award, he could probably swim across the channel in less than an hour! Milo loves to swim a bit too much, so has to be held back from swimming too much, too soon. He is such a good boy and an absolute pleasure to swim. Milo has only had 10 sessions but is slowly improving and gained 1 inch of muscle mass with the careful care and consideration of his lovely owners.
Kevin pre-swim! Like all dogs Kevin is not allowed to swim without a harness and this was swiftly put on before his swim.
Here is the gorgeous Suki, slow and steady is the way!
