It's nearing that time of year again!

Sleepy Meadow has lots of Nordman Fir Christmas trees growing of all sizes. They won't be cut down unless they are ordered- we prefer to let them grow happily until someone wants one in memory of their pet/loved one/or just to support the pet cemetery.

Please consider us when thinking about getting your real tree this year.

Thank you 😊 πŸŽ„πŸŒ²

We have finally submitted our application for a human natural burial ground, in close proximity to Sleepy Meadow Pet Cemetery & Crematorium. It would be known as "Sleepy Meadow's Hill of Dreams".

Having taken on board the feedback of clients, along with obtaining permission to bury our own Richard at Sleepy Meadow, we turned our attention to the possibility of offering such a picturesque resting place to others.

Given this is in the beautiful countryside, it would be a natural burial site meaning a return to the Earth in the most eco friendly manner whilst conserving and maintaining the countryside.

For those wishing to be laid to rest near their pets, this site would open up that possibility. Equally for those without pets, but with an eco conscious mindset or a love of the countryside, this is something we have worked hard to find a way to be able to offer, subject to planning approval.

A Cheshire family has applied for permission to use land at Moston as a multi-faith natural burial ground.

Here in this house...

I will never know the loneliness I hear in the barks of the other dogs 'out there'.
I can sleep soundly, assured that when I wake my world will not have changed.
I will never know hunger, or the fear of not knowing if I'll eat.
I will not shiver in the cold, or grow weary from the heat.
I will feel the sun's heat, and the rain's coolness,
and be allowed to smell all that can reach my nose.
My fur will shine, and never be dirty or matted.

Here in this house...

There will be an effort to communicate with me on my level.
I will be talked to and, even if I don't understand,
I can enjoy the warmth of the words.
I will be given a name so that I may know who I am among many.
My name will be used in joy, and I will love the sound of it!

Here in this house...

I will never be a substitute for anything I am not.
I will never be used to improve peoples' images of themselves.
I will be loved because I am who I am, not someone's idea of who I should be.
I will never suffer for someone's anger, impatience, or stupidity.
I will be taught all the things I need to know to be loved by all.
If I do not learn my lessons well, they will look to my teacher for blame.

Here in this house...

I can trust arms that hold, hands that touch...
knowing that, no matter what they do, they do it for the good of me.
If I am ill, I will be doctored.
If scared, I will be calmed.
If sad, I will be cheered.
No matter what I look like, I will be considered beautiful and thought to be of value.
I will never be cast out because I am too old, too ill, too unruly, or not cute enough.
My life is a responsibility, and not an afterthought.
I will learn that humans can almost, sometimes, be as kind and as fair as dogs.

Here in this house...

I will belong.
I will be home.

πŸ•I am Family

It is Christmas day today,
And all are full of cheer,
But I lay freezing on the step,
I always sleep right here.

I never get to go inside,
And join in all the fun,
I'm what they call a yard dog,
When all is said and done.

They have given me some scraps,
I think it was last week,
Now laying in the snow today,
I am feeling tired and weak.

I can hear the children playing,
As my head lay on my paws,
This time just last year,
I was a gift from Santa Claus.

I don't know what I did wrong,
To be shut out in the yard,
I only lived inside 6 months,
Since then my life's been hard.

The snow is falling heavy now,
I'm just a block of ice,
And when I breathe the cold cold air,
My lungs feel like a vice.

A miracle then came to pass,
An Angel did appear,
She glowed, and I could feel the heat,
As she floated near.

She reached her hand and beckoned,
It was such a sight to see,
She smiled and said "Good Dog,
It is time to come with me.

I will take you to the bridge,
Where all the Good Dogs go
You can play there in the sunshine,
There will be no freezing snow."

My bag of bones stood up then,
I shook the snow from off my fur,
And,as I slowly followed,
This is what I said to her.

"I am not a Good Dog though,
In that I think you're wrong,
No one would shut a Good Dog,
In the garden for so long."

The Angel turned and smiled,
As I walked with head hung low,
Then she said"I'm sorry,
I thought that you would know.

You really are a Good Dog,
The reason why your time is up,
It is just unfortunate,
You were born a Christmas pup."

I now live at the Rainbow Bridge,
And I am filled with joy,
But remember this at Christmas time,
A dog is NOT a toy.

To clarify this message,
To which I have eluded,
Animals are living things,
Batteries are not included ❀️
