Good morning friends and followers this is Spike he's a male green Iguana he currently has plenty of attitude but hopefully will settle well.
The Green iguana is a beautiful large lizard that can reach average lengths of between 4 - 5.5 feet with some individuals reaching 6.5 feet,
They are native to the tropical rainforests of central and south America where they spend most of their time high up in the tree canopy
Iguanas have also populated south Florida where they are classed as an invasive species.
Adult iguanas are primarily herbivores in the wild they live on a diet of mainly leaves and flowers, in captivity they eat a wide range of vegetables and fruits, young iguanas will also happily eat bugs
Iguanas can make great pets but careful consideration must be taken when considering long term housing as these animals require large almost room size enclosures when adults
If you can confidently house any of our beloved reptiles here at the rescue please call in for a chat
