Another great webinar I attended this afternoon with Dr Russell MacKechnie-Guire. Love to learn and pass on my knowledge to help both horse & rider.

Great afternoon webinar with Mark Fisher from Woolcroft Saddlery and myself who delivered a session on “𝗥𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗦𝗹𝗶𝗽”. This session took us on a journey from firstly how to determine saddle slip, the possible causes, and then how to manage it with the overarching theme of the need to work as a “team” to help support the horse and rider. Massive thank you to Mark for sharing his work and approach to saddle fitting. Massive thank you to everyone who joined.

Tuesday Tip.....Turn About the Forehand 🐴💪

This beneficial exercise can be done in-hand. Just three circles each way every day will improve your horse's ridden suppleness, bend and hindlimb adduction.

It can also be a ridden exercise - teaching your horse to move sideways away from leg pressure. It’s also very effective at releasing stiffness and tension in the muscles.

Turn about the forehand is a four-beat lateral turning exercise that you do in walk. As the forelimbs turn on a small circle, the hindlimbs adduct and abduct to step around in a 180-degree arc on a larger circle until your horse is facing the opposite direction.

Everyone meet Rosie 🥰 she’s a young pony who’s come to further her education with me. We will be focusing on groundwork with the halter to help her small jockey with more control when leading & the double lunge as steering is a little wobbly with not much forward direction at the moment.

A great walk exercise to do with your horses. Start with poles on the ground and gradually raise them up. It’s brilliant for increasing lateral & rotational flexibility within the back. This also encourages the horse to lower the head which then raises the base of the neck. HAVE A GO 🤩
