After a tricky start, I really enjoyed drawing these two beautiful dogs, Barney and Rika, both sadly no longer with us.
It’s always difficult when I’m asked to draw beloved pets who have passed, especially when there’s only limited photos to work from.
It’s so important to me I create a close likeness and to reflect each animals character, and occasionally I have to make the difficult decision not to go ahead.
In this instance, I am so pleased I was brave enough to commit and bring these two back to life.

I feel incredibly privileged to be asked to draw so many amazing animals.
This is the very handsome Stallion, Ariel, who in 2018 won Champion Shetland pony of Great Britain.
A gentle and kind soul, he is sadly no longer with us. 💜

Still another day of work on this beautiful horse sculpture, so don’t judge, yet.
