Some sad news for the beginning of the week. On Thursday we made the difficult decision to say goodnight to our little man, Jimmy.

He'd been battling severe arthritis and worsening degenerative disc issues for some time, but it had reached a point where we could do no more to ease his pain, as the arsenal of painkillers and injections he was receiving were simply not working.

For 13 years he's been an amazing friend and companion, and the absence of him is crippling. He left us peacefully held in my arms after his favourite walk through the woods followed by a juicy cheeseburger for tea.

I'll miss my snaggle-toothed little man more than words can say, but I like to imagine that he's now running pain-free over the rainbow bridge with his pals Harry and Lucy; the three amigos reunited.

There's a new pup in town! Say hello to Heidi, the latest addition to the Petiquette family. She's a toy poodle with an anything but toy sized personality. She mostly loves slippers, plant labels, and jumping on Jimmy. 100% a good girl 😂🐾

Bit of a long post, apologies!

I've been away from social media for quite a few months - this year has been a tricky one so far to say the least. Running a family-run small business during a cost of living crisis is a challenge and I've had to prioritise a few personal things, which has meant that my socials and the business itself have taken somewhat of a back seat.

Petiquette Collars has been going for 15 years now and like any business we've had ups and downs, but this year we've had problems getting hold of leather, crystal, had delivery issues, website problems, google algorithm nightmares - basically anything you can think of has been thrown at us to the point where it feels like nothing is going right.

I've thought about giving up and getting a "proper job" a few times over the last 12 months or so as it's defintely been 'one step forward, two steps back' for a while, but the amount of love and effort I've poured into Petiquette and the comments I receive from my amazing customers always lifts me up again and refocuses me on providing the best collars for our pets as possible.

A couple of weeks ago I took a step back and had a bit of a self-evaluating moment. I took a long hard look at the business as it stands and tried to be as critical as possible. What do I like, what don't I like quite so much, are there things I could change and improve to offer even better collars and service to my customers?

I'll not go into the ins and outs, as I'd be here all week, but sufficed to say, I've got a long list and I'm working through it!

I'll be making a concerted effort to spend more time on social media keeping you updated on what's going on, but I'd love to know what you'd actually like to see on the Petiquette page? Is it photos of new collars, behind the scenes videos or something else entirely?

Also, if there's a product you'd like to see Petiquette make, let me know. Harnesses spring to mind immediately, and I'm planning on trying to come up with a few prototypes over the coming months.

So here's to new beginnings, the fifteen year mark seems as good a time as any to take stock and reflect :)

In the meantime, thanks for sticking with Petiquette, it means the world to this family-run small business owner 💖

Last week was a very sad week for us here at Petiquette as we said goodbye to the beautiful Lucy Locket. My parents' dog, Lucy was one of the friendliest dogs I've ever come across. Walks would take an age as she was well known and loved by everyone in the area. She may have been stone deaf, but somehow she could always hear the treat jar!

One of Petiquette's chief collar testers, she'll be sorely missed by us all, but will no doubt now be getting smothered with kisses by her best friend Harry over the rainbow bridge. 🐾🌈❤️
