Potenial Hazards at Christmas ๐
Christmas is upon us, which means food, family and festivities ๐
๐ป
Whilst weโre all now getting into the festive mood, trees are up, getting the Christmas food shopping in and putting up the Christmas decorations, itโs important to be mindful of the potential hazards to our little furry friends and remember to keep them safe this Christmas time ๐
Please take a moment to read our list of toxic plants and food to avoid this Christmas with your pet:
๐ Grapes/ Sultanas/ Raisins
๐ซ Chocolate
๐ Christmas Cake
๐ท Pork fat, or other fatty meats
๐ง Salt - or very salty foods
๐ง
Onions or Garlic
๐ฅ Walnuts/ Pistachio Nuts
๐ฆด Bones
All are toxic or can be harmful to your pet. If you think your pet has managed to eat anything they shouldn't have please contact us, as soon as possible to be treated.
๐ Christmas Tree - Always keep a close eye on your pets around the tree, baubles, tinsel and other tree ornaments can be very tempting to a cheeky dog, and we have all seen a tree or two that has been toppled by an adventurous feline.
๐ก Christmas Lights - Becoming tangled in trailing wire, or even having a little chew can cause a nasty shock or burns.
๐ชด Christmas Poinsettia/ Holly/ Mistletoe - These festive plants are extremely toxic to animals. If you think your pet has ingested any one of these plants, please contact the practice as soon as possible for treatment.
๐ Presents - Some pets just cannot wait until Christmas Day and like to take a sneaky peek at theirs, and everyone else's presents. Make sure any presents containing anything potentially harmful are stored out of reach.
We wish you all a safe and Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! ๐ โ๏ธ
