We recently had the pleasure of helping some lovely customers who had been let down by their original plasterer. They were in a difficult spot and needed someone they could trust to put things right, so we were more than happy to step in and help.

We finished the bedroom plastering, skimmed the ceilings in the landing and hallway, patched up the bedroom ceiling and trimmed it all with ceiling roses and ornate coving, leaving everything smooth and ready for decoration.

It was truly a pleasure to work for such wonderful people, and seeing their relief and appreciation made everything worthwhile.

It’s been a tough week for us at QA Plastering. I sadly lost my mum on Monday, and on top of that, one of our plasterers has gone off sick, and I’ve had a couple of unavoidable appointments to attend. It’s meant we’ve had to reschedule a few jobs, and I just want to say a huge thank you to all our customers for your patience and understanding.

If you’re waiting on a quote or an update, please know we haven’t forgotten you—I’m calling in extra help to keep things moving, and we’re getting through everything as quickly as we can.

We really appreciate your support, and we’ll be back to normal soon.

A Rare Weekend Off!

No work updates this weekend—we actually had some time out with the family! No tools, no quotes, just good company and a well-earned break. Feels strange not being up to our eyes in plaster or paperwork for once!

Back to business as usual next week, but for now, we’re making the most of our time off. Hope you’re all having a good weekend!

7 Tips to ensure a smooth visit! 👍

So, you’ve decided it’s time to sort out those walls! If you’ve booked us, you’re in safe hands. If not… well, you’re missing out but let’s help you get ready anyway!

Here’s some top tips to keep your plasterer happy:

🌟1. Please ditch the wallpaper.
If there’s wallpaper on your walls, we need it gone before we turn up. We know it’s not the most exciting job in the world, but plaster doesn’t stick to it, and unfortunately, we don’t factor wallpaper removal into our time. If it’s still there when we arrive, it will hold everything up—and nobody wants that!

🌟2. Remove the radiators.
If you’ve got radiators on the walls, it’s best to have them removed beforehand. We can work around them if needed, but you’ll get a much neater finish if they’re out of the way. Not sure how to take them off? No worries - I can recommend a great plumber to help you out!

🌟3. Clear the room.
We need to be able to reach every wall without performing gymnastics! Clear as much furniture as you can. The less we have to climb over, the quicker and easier the job will be - and the better the finish.

🌟4. Protect your prize possessions.
We’re very clean and tidy and always careful, but plaster dust has a mind of its own. If there’s something you can’t move and it’s important, it’s a good idea to give it an extra layer of protection. We’ll cover everything with dust sheets anyway, but we can’t guarantee the dust won’t find a way in!

🌟5. Keep the kettle handy.
Tea and coffee are fuel for plasterers, and custard creams are always a winner. Want to go the extra mile? Bacon butties are guaranteed to keep us smiling - and working hard!

🌟6. Pets and kids.
As much as we love seeing your furry friends or chatting to the kids, they’re best kept out of the way while we’re working. Wet plaster and curious little helpers don’t mix well!

🌟7. Ventilation and heat .
When we’re all done, and your walls are silky smooth, good airflow is key to helping plaster dry - but don’t go overboard. Open a window slightly or let some air circulate. If you’re adding heat, keep it gentle - letting the room dry too fast can cause cracks, and nobody wants that!

And that’s it! Follow these tips, and we’ll be in, out, and leaving you with walls so smooth, they’re practically mirror-like.

Hi, I’m Quint, the proud owner of QA Plastering Services, where Quality is always Assured and I thought it time I properly introduced myself.

With over 35 years of experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all—wonky walls, cracked ceilings, and the occasional DIY (and even professional) jobs gone wrong. Don’t worry, your secrets are safe with me 🤫.

We specialise in plastering and damp proofing, offering a professional service that ensures top-quality results every time. I have a small but dedicated team of plasterers who share my commitment to exceptional workmanship, friendly service, and leaving every space cleaner than we found it. I’ll admit, I’m a bit of a perfectionist (some might even call me a little OCD), but it’s that attention to detail that sets us apart.

Of course, no great business runs itself, and that’s where my wife Heather Atkinson comes in—she’s the brains of the operation. She handles the admin, communications, and keeps our diary running like clockwork. When she’s not keeping me in check, tshe works full-time for York Against Cancer and somehow still finds time to help our son with his landscaping business,DK Groundworks LTD. (Check out the free plug, Dan—you’re welcome!) Honestly, I don’t know how she does it all, but she manages it brilliantly—as long as I stay out of her way!

At home, it’s never quiet either. I proudly take on the title of king of the BBQ, applying the same perfectionism to grilling as I do to plastering—whether it’s burgers, brisket, or anything in between. And if I’m not by the grill, Heather has a knack for finding me plenty of DIY jobs to keep me out of trouble!

When we’re not busy working, we love to travel. You’ll often find us camping in our beloved campervan or jetting off abroad to soak up some sun (usually somewhere with Wi-Fi so Heather can still keep me in line!).

So now you know a little more about me! - If you’re thinking about getting plastered 😜, don’t hesitate to get in touch. My diary does fill up quickly, and you might have to wait a little while, but I promise the end result will be well worth it.
