The Competition Scent Dog Alert Trial at Selby Sniffers was a blast!
The search area which contained multiple rooms, a route and cafe was certainly different. This was a scenario based trial with clues and puzzles to solve along the way. Well done everyone and congratulations to Elaine Tomkins with Florence who came 1st and Sarah Hardy with Blu who came in 2nd.

Your adventure begins as you arrive at the car park, gearing up to clear the building and ensure its safety. It's not just a trial, it's an opportunity to hone your skills, enhance your techniques, and put everything you have learned into practice in a supportive environment.
Then, after the trials have finished, we will have a training session to work on anything that could have gone better. It's the perfect time to train while it's still fresh in your mind.

Today was Selby Sniffers K9 Scentwork L1 PRO Trial (Route/vehicle)
The weather was kind with a bit of wind but dry. Thank you to Maggy Whymant of Tickton Grange Hotel for her hospitality & Bianca Schofield for her help and vehicle.
Today we have the first 2 competitors, Janet Nero with Darcy and Nicola Park with Jackson, to have completed Level 1.

Today Selby Sniffers K9 Scentwork held their 1st ALERT Trial.
Professor Springfield has gone to the dark side. He invented the lethal chemical RM17, highly volatile and capable of mass destruction. The mission;
Give the password to gain entry and receive a bunch of keys and their ID badge. Unlock the tin to get a hi viz jacket and evidence markers. Then find the RM17 and save the world.
Huge congratulations to Nicola Park and Jackson who got first place and Janet Nero and Darcy with 2nd.
Thank you to Elaine Tomkins for scribing, Julie Fearn for running and Springfield Dog Care for the venue.

Gain what information you can. It helps to know your mission, where you are searching and for what!

We have an amendment to our Trials to take away any confusion.

1. From Level 3 - 10, there will be 5 hides.
2. We have introduced a pass mark. This will be scoring 7/10 in each of the following, Safety, System and Control coupled with finding all of the hides in L1 and L2, then 4/5 hides in Levels 3 - 10.
3. We have made it clearer that a Scenario based ALERT Trial does not contain elements. So Trial Managers can let their imagination run riot.
4. A PRO Trial still contains the Elements, Area, Building, Vehicle, Route.

We’ve done it!
Today was our first Trial. Everyone was amazing! 1st place with a Clean Sweep went to Sara Bratonozic and Abbie. What a stonking search. 2nd with a Clean Sweep was Janet Nero and Darcy. Clean Sweeps also went to Elaine Tomkins and Florence, Nicola Park and Jackson, Elaine Judd and Pip and Becca Gemlo Dunstan and Luna.
A big thank you to our own Maggie Whymant and Loki for allowing us to use her fab venue. Bianca Schofield for being my right hand Woman and Elaine Tomkins for being runner.
