Sir Paddington - Aka Paddi π
What a difference in just 1 week π₯°
Paddi can be unsure of new people, dogs and surroundings We're unsure of Paddis past as he was surrendered to a poodle charity at around 3 years old, before landing on his paws with his Foster mum Krista and eventually finding his forever home with his lovely mum/owner, Carol.
From what we do know, It seems Paddis world has mostly been very small and he lacks in confidence due to lack of socialising.
Paddi is a lovely boy, albeit very nervous.
He has a lot of love to give but due to his lack of trust it takes him a minute to let you see just how lovely he can be.
We plan to help Paddi feel happier around new people and dogs and we hope to help him understand what is acceptable behaviour around the other dogs.
Watch this space! We're so proud of you already Paddi β€οΈ

ROSIE BUNYAN ππ
Wednesday was the hardest day we've ever had working with dogs. In 10 years we haven't faced what we did on Wednesday.
Rosie came along for her favourite day of the week, she was quieter than normal but nothing major. She sat on Garys feet with her tail wagging while gary spoke to her dad. Dad said she'd been a little quiet but nothing serious and he hoped seeing her pals would brighten her up.
Well it really did, she zoomed around like she usually would, she stuck close to Conall for treats and had plenty of them. She smiled, she done her usual lap of the hills and she loved every minute of it.
Rosie was a magnet to dirt so she always had a bath and blowdry after her walks to save mum and dads carpets π
.
I was just getting her towels sorted when I turned around and looked at a very tired Rosie, I just knew something was wrong. She had been quieter since losing her sister 6 months ago but this was different. We checked her over and it became very clear that Rosie was not right so we rushed her over to the vet and met her mum and dad there.
When I got her out the van at the vets she looked even more tired so I scooped her up and handed her over to her dad, one last cuddle and a kiss on her forehead.
Shortly after we heard from Rosies parents that Rosie had a tumor on her spleen and it had ruptured, this type of tumor is usually secondary cancer and there were no options to save Rosie.
Heartbroken. How can we pick up 15 dogs and only return 14 home? π
Flatcoatted retrievers are so prone to cancer and having short lives. It's very unfair, they are the sweetest dogs and I can clearly see why they've been nicknamed the heart break breed. Rosies parents have owned the breed for over 30 years and were never put off by this. They just adore Flat coats.
The one good thing that we take from this experience is that Rosie had a really good day, she ate her favourite treats, played with her favourite toys, and walked with

Everyone is asking if we just keep the dogs in the filed when it's windy or if we close so they don't get cold..
Dogs don't mind the wind, in fact some of them love it! and Gary has been trying to fly with his coat π€£
I think everyone will sleep well tonight π΄ π₯°
