RIP Billi the Boss - a message from Anne
It is with much sadness that I am writing this tribute to “the Boss “. He was well known by many of you and very grateful for your support and messages over the years. Unfortunately late yesterday afternoon he suffered a thromboembolism. This obstructed the blood supply to his back legs, causing great pain and paralysis. Thankfully I was with him in the garden and realised instantly what was happening.
Billi has had a rich life - born in Derby and coming to live in Selston as a kitten. He was very much his own person and a real cat! He loved his comforts but he also loved the great outdoors and was an avid hunter- frequently bringing his friends inside too. Billi was also very sociable and liked to have his people (servants) around him - hence his nickname “the Boss”. Everyone in the surgery was used to Billi’s antics / demanding food, his own chair (whichever one you were sitting on) and telling us when it was time to finish for the day and go home - Billi would usually be there issuing orders or supervising.
Sadly he will not be available to train the next set of staff when Selston eventually reopens. Billi you will be missed!
RIP Billi the Boss.

Message for Billi form Lauren -
We will all miss Billi, it was only the other day when I paid him a visit and took 2 of these photos. Its a sad loss for both Anne and all of Billis servants. He certainly knew how to be the big boss of Selston😆We will miss him dearly in the surgery 😪

We would like to introduce Nadia to you and give her a warm welcome to the Selston team.
Nadia qualified as a Vet in Gran Canaria, and moved to the UK last year. She has a keen interest in internal medicine and emergencies. She will be with us 3-4 days per week to share the work-load with Anne to allow her a well earned semi-retirement! She is excited to meet all our lovely clients and patients and we hope she will be very happy with us 😀

05/11/2020

IMPORTANT

Week commencing Monday 9th November we will be closing at 2pm for the duration of the current lockdown period.

Following guidance set by the BVA (british veterinary association) and the RCVS we will continue to operate on our closed door system but are still able to offer some routine appointments.

Adult boosters that are upto date we are postponing until after lockdown, along with routine healthplan check ups.

Routine neutering where welfare is not immediately affected will be postponed.

Thank You for your patience and understanding during these difficult times.

12/10/2020

URGENT PLEASE READ

All evening appointments for this week will be contacted to rearrange but please contact the surgery if we haven’t managed to speak to you.

This will be reassessed on a weekly basis.

Thank You for your understanding.

Heatstroke is a serious and potentially life threatening condition. Some dogs are at a higher risk than others, this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t always be cautious with any dog. Some cases where heat stroke can strike more easily are in:

*Giant breeds
*Brachycephalic dogs- for example, boxers, pugs, french bulldogs, english bulldogs.
*Very young or old dogs
*Obese

And of course... under no circumstances leave dogs in cars in this weather 🥵 🐶

🐱 The power of the microchip !!

This is Gizmo- he has been missing for SIX YEARS 😧 and today was reunited with his owner after being brought in for a healthcheck by a lovely lady who has been caring for him. We scanned him and he had a microchip stating he was ‘lost’

His owner had not given up hope and was delighted to hear he had turned up safe and well.

This is a reminder to microchip your pets and keep the details upto date.

Also if you find a ‘stray’ cat the first thing to do ALWAYS is to get it scanned for a microchip.

We wish Gizmo all the best 💙

Everyone meet Pugsley who has been very poorly recently with his naughty ears- he is now feeling much better and now even enjoys coming to see us. He sits patiently and helps out on reception when we have to answer the phone 🥰 His favourite part is having his back and belly scratched afterwards!
