What 3 words would you use to describe a veterinary nurse?π
We are lucky enough to have an array of veterinary nurses in our practices who are role models for the whole team. Whether that be their practice skills for handling patients or their ability to remain calm during busy situations which can relax the student nursesπ

A story about a snake called Jerry.
Jerry visited vet, Mark, has his tail had become necrotic. The hope was that Jerry would be able to shed the old skin on his tail whilst he was prescribed antibiotics and a barrier ointment for the tail. Pre-shedding, a snake will start to show signs such as wanting to hide under a log or rock and their skin can appear dull in colour. During the shedding process, snakes should shed their skin in one complete shed.
Unfortunately, Jerry was unable to shed his skin so he needed the end of his tail amputated. This involved anaethetising Jerry, prepping his tail and then surgically removing the end.
The team then recovered Jerry with a heat mat, bubble wrap and a blanket to prevent him from getting cold. Jerry is now home and recovering well!π
Happy Veterinary day!π
Our amazing Sevenoaks team have been working towards their move to their new site on Pembroke road. We managed to grab them for a few moments so that they can tell us what they are excited about for the move to the new facilitiesπ₯
Calling all pet owners and Pennard Vets clients!
We are very excited to announce that we are set to move our Sevenoaks team to their new premises on Pembroke roadπ₯
After originally naming our practice after the building that we have been established in since 1890, we are continuing to transform into a modern practice with our new building. The team may have changed over the years, but our ethos remains the same, to provide the right care at the right time, in the right way.

We are aware that pet insurance premiums have increased for many pet owners recently and it may be tempting to cancel the pet insurance or search around for cheaper pricesπ€―
When changing to a different policy, this may leave your pet vulnerable as a new policy could result in βpre-existingβ conditions being excluded from your new policy. This means that you may have to pay for an ongoing condition or pay for a new condition.
It is also important to know that even if you did not claim for the βpre-existing conditionβ, this may still be excluding from your new policyπΎ
If you require any more guidance on how to choose an insurance company, then drop us a message and we will be happy to helpπ

Meet Lola!
Lola gets a little worried about having her nails trimmed so here is wonderful way of encouraging her to file her own nails using a nail board.
This board has a little pocket in it, where Lola's parents pop some treats, Lola scratches the nail board to indicate her interest in the treat and the pocket is opened as a reward.
This is a great example of what our positive pets movement is all about! We want to work with pets and their owners to create positive experiences ππ₯°

How we clean your dogs teeth!
While your dog is under anaesthetic we use an ultrasonic descaler which removes plaque and tartar using sonic vibrations to remove build-up. This allows us to clean the tooth and below the gum line. We then apply a polish to the teeth which works as a barrier to help reduce future build up.
Dental disease can effect your whole pet and can even lead to organ damage due to swallowing bacteria over time.
If you would like your pet to have their smile checked, please make an appointment with one of our amazing vet nurses!
Did you know?!
Dogs LOVE to work for their food!
It enriches their day and makes it more fun for them. They love working out puzzles and finding their food.
There's loads of ways to do this including games (the cup game as in video), hiding food in snuffle mats and scatter feeding (scattering their biscuits accross the floor or in the grass).
Grazer or Guzzler?
Cats fall into two categories the grazer who likes to have several small meals throughout the day and the guzzler who likes to sit at the bowl and eat everything in one sitting.
We can train the grazer to become a guzzler by wanting them to show that they love their food and eat more in one sitting. This means we often end up changing their food regularly until we find something they will eat for a decent amount of time. These foods are often higher in calories, which means they are taking in more calories which can lead to weight gain.
The grazer is excellent at managing their own weight, because they only eat what they need at any given time.
